DRIVES, MOTORS & CONTROLS
Even higher
performance,
smaller size
Two extremely compact,
brushless DC servo motors
from EMS combine power,
robust design and highresolution
feedback in an innovative
way, making them ideal for demanding
applications with high performance
requirements i a limited space.
The Faulhaber 0824..B and
1028..B brushless DC servomotors
offer high continuous torque (1.1mNm
and 2.1mNm respectively) and very
flat slope of the n/M motor curve, in a
low weight package with just 8mm or
10mm diameter and 24mm or 28mm
length. Both drive series are available
with a high-resolution integrated
encoder as standard, without extra
cost. This makes the motors
particularly suitable for demanding
positioning tasks.
Configurable encoder
The configurable encoder is available
as a flexible 3-channel incremental
version with resolution from 1 to 1024
CPR or a 12-bit single turn absolute
encoder. A single flexboard provides
connections for voltage supply of the
encoder and motor and of the output
signals.
Speed and motion controllers
matching the motor powers and a wide
range of precise and powerful
planetary gears and spur gearheads
with numerous reduction ratios
complement the two motor series for a
flexible drive solution in a multitude of
different application areas. For
example, optical and photonic
applications such as zoom and focus
or the alignment of optical filters and
mirrors in laser systems require ever
increasing precision and ever shrinking
dimensions. Or there is medical
equipment where high reliability,
quality and performance are key. Here,
the 0824..B and 1028..B meet the
needs of tasks such as high-tech
prosthetics, portable drug delivery
devices, micro-dosing pumps,
ultrasound diagnostic technology and
surgical robotics for minimally invasive
procedures.
In automation and robotics, the
new motors provide dynamic, precise
and repeatable performance for
applications such as SMD pick and
place machines, handling equipment
like industrial electric grippers, or high
precision humanoid robotics.
Automated laboratory analysis
equipment is being pushed to new
levels of testing accuracy and output
every day. New areas of testing with
ever increasing demands require
smaller and more powerful brushless
DC servo motors. Whether for
precision dosing systems, miniature
handling devices, conveyor systems or
XY positioning stages, these new
motors will provide an ideal solution.
The innovative drive concept
underlines Faulhaber’s successful
tradition in the area of micro-drive
technology and complements the
range of brushless ‘mini’ DC servo
motors with diameters ranging from
6-12mm.
