One-Way/Round Trip Tickets
Tickets may be purchased from a Quik-Trak ticket machine, online or from a
station agent at any staffed station. Tickets may also be purchased on board
from the conductor, however an additional service charge may apply.
Ten-Ride (45-Day) Tickets
Tickets for ten one-way rides valid over a 45-day period may be purchased
online, from a station agent at any staffed station, or from a Quik-Trak
machine as long as one endpoint of the ticket is from the station where the
Quik-Trak machine is located. Tickets are valid for rides between stations
listed on ticket only and are of no value once expired. There is no grace
period and they cannot be redeemed for travel.
Monthly Tickets
Tickets for unlimited rides during one calendar month may be purchased
online, from a station agent at any staffed station, or from a Quik-Trak
machine as long as one endpoint of the ticket is from the station where the
Quik-Trak machine is located. Tickets expire at the end of the month and
there is no grace period.
Multi-Ride Tickets are Available Online
Multi-Ride tickets may be booked on line and printed out from any Quik-
Trak machine. Book tickets at least 11 days before travel for US Mail delivery
or 4 days before travel for Express Delivery (an additional fee applies).
Group Travel
Amtrak California welcomes groups! For groups of 20 or more traveling
together, reservations are required and are subject to availability.
For San Joaquin and Pacific Surfliner group reservations please call 1-800-

reservations, please call 1-877-9-RIDECC or visit capitolcorridor.org.
Lost, Stolen or Destroyed Tickets
Your tickets have value —safeguard them as you would cash.
Caltrans, Amtrak and the CCJPA are not liable for lost, stolen, misplaced or
destroyed tickets. If they have become lost, stolen or damaged, you will
need to repurchase your tickets in order to travel. To apply for a refund

Children Ride Half Price
Children 2 to 15 years of age ride half price every day. Limit two children
per each adult fare purchased.
Seniors
Seniors age 62 and over receive a 15% discount.
Military
Active-duty United States Military Personnel, along with their spouses and
dependents, are eligible to receive a 10% discount. A valid active-duty US
Armed Forces identification card is required.
Disabled
Disabled Passengers are eligible for a 15% discount without advance reservations.
Discounted tickets can only be booked at a ticket counter, and
passengers will need to provide written documentation of disability at the
ticket counter and when boarding the train.
Reservations
Advance reservations are required where noted with an
symbol throughout the timetable. Reservations are not required on the
Pacific Surfliner or Capitol Corridor trains.
Three-Day Advance Purchase Required
To receive the following discounts, tickets must be purchased at least
three days in advance. Tickets may be purchased online, at any staffed
Amtrak station or Quik-Trak machine.
AAA (American Automobile Association)—Members are eligible to
receive a 10% discount with membership card.
NARP (National Association of Railroad Passengers)—Members are
entitled to a 10% discount with membership card.
Students with a valid Student Advantage Card can save 15%.
Veterans with a valid Veterans Advantage Members Card can save 15%.
Valid Photo I.D.
Amtrak passengers are required to provide one of the following forms of
identification when purchasing a ticket or boarding an Amtrak train or
bus. 1) valid state-issued driver’s license; 2) valid state-issued photo I.D.
(non-drivers); 3) passport; or 4) government agency photo I.D.
No Smoking
By law, smoking is prohibited on all Amtrak trains and buses.
Recycling
Recycling receptacles are located in every car.
Pets
Certified guide or service animals accompanying passengers with disabilities
are the only animals permitted on Amtrak trains and buses.
Wheelchairs
All trains are wheelchair accessible. Buses are equipped with wheelchair
lifts and can accommodate at least one wheelchair per bus. Reservations

Bicycles
Most trains are equipped with bicycle racks on the lower level and are
available on a first-come, first-served basis. Passengers are responsible
for securing their own bikes. On Thruway buses, unboxed bicycles may
be stowed in the baggage compartment. Amtrak assumes no responsibility
for damage that may be caused.
Food and Alcohol Beverages
Food and beverages are available for purchase in the Café Car. They may
be consumed in the Cafe Car or at your seat. You may bring your own food
aboard and consume it at your seat. Preparation and consumption of personal
food is not permitted in the Café Car. Alcoholic beverages may be
consumed onboard only if purchased in the Café Car. Consumption of
personal alcohol is not permitted onboard.
Baggage
As a courtesy to other passengers, please store carry-on baggage in the
overhead bins or on the floor under your seat. Keep the aisles and seats
free for others to use. Checked baggage services are available at designated
stations (see Station Directory on page 37). The following guidelines
apply to baggage brought onboard:
• Two-piece limit—Each passenger may bring aboard two pieces of
carry-on luggage. Not included in this limit are personal items such as
briefcases, purses, laptops and infant strollers, diaper bags, car seats,
etc. Please be considerate of other passengers when stowing your
carry-on bags. Contact the conductor if you have additional questions.
• 50-Pound Limit—Each bag may weigh no more than 50 pounds.
• Size Limit—Each bag may not exceed 28” x 22” x 14”.
• Visible Tag Required—Each carry-on bag must be visibly tagged with
the name and address of the passenger. For more details please visit
