Ticket & Passenger Information<br />

Travel Made Simple<br />

One-Way/Round Trip Tickets<br />

Tickets may be purchased from a Quik-Trak ticket machine, online or from a<br />

station agent at any staffed station. Tickets may also be purchased on board<br />

from the conductor, however an additional service charge may apply.<br />

Ten-Ride (45-Day) Tickets<br />

Tickets for ten one-way rides valid over a 45-day period may be purchased<br />

online, from a station agent at any staffed station, or from a Quik-Trak<br />

machine as long as one endpoint of the ticket <strong>is</strong> from the station where the<br />

Quik-Trak machine <strong>is</strong> located. Tickets are valid for rides between stations<br />

l<strong>is</strong>ted on ticket only and are of no value once expired. There <strong>is</strong> no grace<br />

period and they cannot be redeemed for travel.<br />

Monthly Tickets<br />

Tickets for unlimited rides during one calendar month may be purchased<br />

online, from a station agent at any staffed station, or from a Quik-Trak<br />

machine as long as one endpoint of the ticket <strong>is</strong> from the station where the<br />

Quik-Trak machine <strong>is</strong> located. Tickets expire at the end of the month and<br />

there <strong>is</strong> no grace period.<br />

Multi-Ride Tickets are Available Online<br />

Multi-Ride tickets may be booked on line and printed out from any Quik-<br />

Trak machine. Book tickets at least 11 days before travel for US Mail delivery<br />

or 4 days before travel for Express Delivery (an additional fee applies).<br />

Group Travel<br />

<strong>Amtrak</strong> <strong>California</strong> welcomes groups! For groups of 20 or more traveling<br />

together, reservations are required and are subject to availability.<br />

For San Joaquin and Pacific Surfliner group reservations please call 1-800-<br />

USA-1GRP (1-800-872-1477) or v<strong>is</strong>it <strong>Amtrak</strong>.com. For Capitol Corridor group<br />

reservations, please call 1-877-9-RIDECC or v<strong>is</strong>it capitolcorridor.org.<br />

Lost, Stolen or Destroyed Tickets<br />

Your tickets have value —safeguard them as you would cash.<br />

Caltrans, <strong>Amtrak</strong> and the CCJPA are not liable for lost, stolen, m<strong>is</strong>placed or<br />

destroyed tickets. If they have become lost, stolen or damaged, you will<br />

need to repurchase your tickets in order to travel. To apply for a refund<br />

for lost or destroyed tickets, download the Lost Ticket Application form at<br />

www.amtrak.com<br />

Children Ride Half Price<br />

Children 2 to 15 years of age ride half price every day. Limit two children<br />

per each adult fare purchased.<br />

Seniors<br />

Seniors age 62 and over receive a 15% d<strong>is</strong>count.<br />

Military<br />

Active-duty United States Military Personnel, along with their spouses and<br />

dependents, are eligible to receive a 10% d<strong>is</strong>count. A valid active-duty US<br />

Armed Forces identification card <strong>is</strong> required.<br />

D<strong>is</strong>abled<br />

D<strong>is</strong>abled Passengers are eligible for a 15% d<strong>is</strong>count without advance reservations.<br />

D<strong>is</strong>counted tickets can only be booked at a ticket counter, and<br />

passengers will need to provide written documentation of d<strong>is</strong>ability at the<br />

ticket counter and when boarding the train.<br />

Reservations<br />

Advance reservations are required where noted with an<br />

symbol throughout the timetable. Reservations are not required on the<br />

Pacific Surfliner or Capitol Corridor trains.<br />

Three-Day Advance Purchase Required<br />

To receive the following d<strong>is</strong>counts, tickets must be purchased at least<br />

three days in advance. Tickets may be purchased online, at any staffed<br />

<strong>Amtrak</strong> station or Quik-Trak machine.<br />

AAA (American Automobile Association)—Members are eligible to<br />

receive a 10% d<strong>is</strong>count with membership card.<br />

NARP (National Association of Railroad Passengers)—Members are<br />

entitled to a 10% d<strong>is</strong>count with membership card.<br />

Students with a valid Student Advantage Card can save 15%.<br />

Veterans with a valid Veterans Advantage Members Card can save 15%.<br />

Valid Photo I.D.<br />

<strong>Amtrak</strong> passengers are required to provide one of the following forms of<br />

identification when purchasing a ticket or boarding an <strong>Amtrak</strong> train or<br />

bus. 1) valid state-<strong>is</strong>sued driver’s license; 2) valid state-<strong>is</strong>sued photo I.D.<br />

(non-drivers); 3) passport; or 4) government agency photo I.D.<br />

No Smoking<br />

By law, smoking <strong>is</strong> prohibited on all <strong>Amtrak</strong> trains and buses.<br />

Recycling<br />

Recycling receptacles are located in every car.<br />

Pets<br />

Certified guide or service animals accompanying passengers with d<strong>is</strong>abilities<br />

are the only animals permitted on <strong>Amtrak</strong> trains and buses.<br />

Wheelchairs<br />

All trains are wheelchair accessible. Buses are equipped with wheelchair<br />

lifts and can accommodate at least one wheelchair per bus. Reservations<br />

Bicycles<br />

Most trains are equipped with bicycle racks on the lower level and are<br />

available on a first-come, first-served bas<strong>is</strong>. Passengers are responsible<br />

for securing their own bikes. On Thruway buses, unboxed bicycles may<br />

be stowed in the baggage compartment. <strong>Amtrak</strong> assumes no responsibility<br />

for damage that may be caused.<br />

Food and Alcohol Beverages<br />

Food and beverages are available for purchase in the Café Car. They may<br />

be consumed in the Cafe Car or at your seat. You may bring your own food<br />

aboard and consume it at your seat. Preparation and consumption of personal<br />

food <strong>is</strong> not permitted in the Café Car. Alcoholic beverages may be<br />

consumed onboard only if purchased in the Café Car. Consumption of<br />

personal alcohol <strong>is</strong> not permitted onboard.<br />

Baggage<br />

As a courtesy to other passengers, please store carry-on baggage in the<br />

overhead bins or on the floor under your seat. Keep the a<strong>is</strong>les and seats<br />

free for others to use. Checked baggage services are available at designated<br />

stations (see Station Directory on page 37). The following guidelines<br />

apply to baggage brought onboard:<br />

• Two-piece limit—Each passenger may bring aboard two pieces of<br />

carry-on luggage. Not included in th<strong>is</strong> limit are personal items such as<br />

briefcases, purses, laptops and infant strollers, diaper bags, car seats,<br />

etc. Please be considerate of other passengers when stowing your<br />

carry-on bags. Contact the conductor if you have additional questions.<br />

• 50-Pound Limit—Each bag may weigh no more than 50 pounds.<br />

• Size Limit—Each bag may not exceed 28” x 22” x 14”.<br />

• V<strong>is</strong>ible Tag Required—Each carry-on bag must be v<strong>is</strong>ibly tagged with<br />

the name and address of the passenger. For more details please v<strong>is</strong>it<br />
