Page 6 SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Village of Rockville Centre Nursery School The Rockville Centre Recreation Department is pleased to offer Nursery School programs for the 2013 -2014 School year. These programs, designed to meet the needs of the community, have operated continuously with great success for over 50 years. An extended day program is available for 4 year olds, with a 3 day a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) enrichment class. Eligibility: Pre Kindergarten for those entering kindergarten in September 2014. Pre Pre Kindergarten for those entering kindergarten in September 2015. Classes begin September 9th. For further information call 678-9338 or 9339. Tennis The Har-Tru courts, adjacent to the Rec. Center, located at 111 North Oceanside Road are open from 8:00 a.m. until dusk, 7 days a week. Admission is by valid recreation card, plus court fee. Fall Programs Registration for the fall programs will begin on August 12th for RVC residents and will continue through September. All registrations are accepted on a first come, first-served basis. Detailed flyers are available by calling 678-9338 or 9339. Fall programs begin the week of September 22nd. Volunteers Needed Catholic Charities CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) is seeking volunteers to assist in food distribution, unloading trucks and general warehouse work at our Freeport location. The center is open Monday—Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Days and times are flexible. If you are interested and available in the above volunteer opportunity or in any other volunteer areas, please contact Mary Ellen Kwiecinski, Volunteer Coordinator at 516 733-7044. Oceanside Senior Community Catholic Charities Oceanside Senior Community Service Center located at St. Anthony’s Parish, 80 Anchor Avenue, Oceanside welcomes persons aged 60 and over to their multipurpose senior center. Delicious hot meals are served daily and transportation is provided in the towns of Oceanside, Island Park, Lynbrook, Baldwin, Rockville Center, East Rockaway and Valley Stream. Exercise, Tai Chi, Dancercise and Chair Yoga are available. Game playing, parties, health screenings and access to entitlements are offered. We are non-sectarian. July 21, 2013 Page 7 Religious Education St. Agnes Religious Education Office wishes you a very happy, healthy and safe summer. Our offices will be open during the summer months from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or by appointment. Registration is ongoing for those entering Level 1 in the fall and all new students of any grade level. All Level 1 students must register even if there is an older sibling already in the program. If you know a Catholic family with a child entering 1st grade in September please remind them to register their child for Level 1 as soon as possible. A full year of Level 1 is required before a child can enter Level 2 and prepare for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Thank you to those who responded to the call for catechists to teach our Catholic faith to our children. We still are in need several catechists for the following grade levels: Level 4 – One catechist each on Mondays at 5:45 p.m.; Tuesdays at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. Level 5 – Two catechists on Mondays at 5:45 p.m. Level 6 – One catechist on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Level 7 – Two catechists on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Level 8 –Facilitators are needed to lead Level 8 discussion groups. This will not be as involved as if you were teaching a class. Call the religious education office for more information. Class schedules for the Fall are as follows: Grades 2-6 – Mondays at 4:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (mostly level 4-6) - grades 2 & 3 limited to those with siblings in upper grades. Grades 2-6 – Tuesday 4:30 p.m. (mostly level 2)- 5:45 p.m. (mostly level 3) – 7:00 p.m. (mostly level 4-6) Grade 7 – Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Grade 8 – Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. approximately twice a month Educating children in the faith is a rewarding experience and it helps you to grow in your own relationship with Christ. You will be given all the tools and assistance you need and you will join a great group of experienced catechists who can help you along your way. We can also use classroom assistants and hall monitors on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays . All volunteers must fill out a volunteer registration form and attend a VIRTUS (Protecting God’s Children) session. Please call the Religious Education Office for more information (678-2306).
