Priests and Extraordinary Ministers of Communion are

arrangements. Those who are seriously ill should request a 

priest for Anointing of the Sick. The Anointing of the Sick 

is celebrated each Monday morning during the 9:00 a.m. 

Mass. If you would like to be anointed, please sit in the first 

row of the pulpit transept.

Religious Education 

St. Agnes Religious Education Office wishes you a very happy, healthy and safe summer. Our offices will 

be open during the summer months from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or by appointment. Registration is ongoing 

for those entering Level 1 in the fall and all new students of any grade level. All Level 1 students must register 

even if there is an older sibling already in the program. If you know a Catholic family with a child 

entering 1st grade in September please remind them to register their child for Level 1 as soon as possible. 

A full year of Level 1 is required before a child can enter Level 2 and prepare for Reconciliation and 

First Holy Communion. 

Class schedules for the Fall are as follows: 

Grades 2-6 – Mondays at 4:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (mostly level 4-6) - grades 2 & 3 limited to 

those with siblings in upper grades. 

Grades 2-6 – Tuesday 4:30 p.m. (mostly level 2), 5:45 p.m. (mostly level 3) – 7:00 p.m. mostly level 4-6 

Grade 7 – Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m. 

Grade 8 – Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. approximately twice a month 

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT SHARING YOUR FAITH? 

The summer is moving quickly and here in our religious education office we are busy putting children into classes 

for the upcoming religious education year. Unfortunately, we have a good number of students for whom there is no 

one to catechize them. We need faith filled people to teach these classes so that all our children can receive adequate 

formation in the faith. Teaching children their faith is important for they will be the future of our Church. Catechists 

do not have to have children in the program and you can share the duties with a spouse, friend or even a teenage son 

or daughter. We provide all the materials and support you will need. Think about it. In this Year of Faith, why not 

make a commitment to keep the faith going strong by becoming a catechist to a group of our children. 

All volunteers over 18 must fill out a volunteer registration form and attend a VIRTUS (Protecting God’s Children) 

session. Please call the Religious Education Office for more information (678-2306). We are open Monday thru Friday 

between 9:00 and 4:00. 

Level 4 need 3: One catechist each on Tuesdays at 4:30, 5:45 and 7:00 

Level 5 need one catechist on Tuesday at 5:45 

Level 6 need one catechist on Monday at 4:30 

Level 7 need one catechist on Tuesdays at 7:00 

Level 8 –Facilitators are needed to lead Level 8 discussion groups. This will not be as involved as if you were teaching 

a class. Level 8 will meet every other week on a Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:30. Call the religious education 

office for more information on Level 8 and leave a message for Deacon Andy.

Dear Parishioners: 

I am writing in regard to our desire to replace the hymnals in the Cathedral and Lower Hall. The hymnals 

in the Cathedral have served us well. However, they are almost ten years old and have fallen into 

greater and greater states of disrepair. The hymnals in the Lower Hall are even older and they too are 

in need of replacement. 

After a good amount of investigation and discussion we have chosen the Worship IV Hymnal for the 

Cathedral and the Breaking Bread Missalette for the Lower Hall. Each of these Hymnals contains the 

revised translation of the Mass, which means that we will no longer need pew cards for prayers such as 

the Creed. They also contain the revised Mass settings which will enable us to sing certain parts of the 

Mass without having to have additional pages printed each week. These hymnals include music that is 

currently sung as well as some new music. Please also know that the hymnal chosen for the Lower 

Hall is "user friendly" for families and, because it is a missalette, it will be replaced every year. 

As we did ten years ago, we are asking you to consider gifting/memorializing one or more of these 

hymnals. The cost of the Worship IV Hymnal is $22. and the cost of memorializing three years of the 

Breaking Bread Missalette is also $22. On each of the hymnals there will be a bookplate memorializing 

each gift. The enclosed sheet describes the three different forms that are available for the bookplate 

as well as a limited number of other books related to the hymnals that can be memorialized. 

I thank you for your consideration of this request. Your gift will certainly enable us as a parish to continue 

to lift our hearts and voices to God and. at the same time, remember your intention.

Golden Wedding Liturgy 

This fall, couples that have been 

married fifty years or more will be 

honored at liturgies on Sunday, October 

6th at the Church of Saint Rose of Lima 

in Massapequa and on Sunday 

November 3rd at the Church of Christ 

the King in Commack. Both liturgies will begin at 

2:30 p.m. Couples may register for ONE liturgy. 

Registration forms and complete instructions can be 

obtained at the rectory. Registration must be received 

by the Office of Worship by September 19th for the 

October 6th liturgy and by October 17th for the 

November 3rd liturgy. There will be additional 

celebrations in the spring for those who may find that 

more convenient. Dates for the spring celebrations

Catholic Charities CSFP (Commodity Supplemental 

Food Program) is seeking volunteers to assist in food 

distribution, unloading trucks and general warehouse 

work at our Freeport location. The center is open

times are flexible. If you are interested and available 

in the above volunteer opportunity or in any other

Please help members of our community for whom buying school supplies can be a terrible monetary burden.

which will then be distributed through the Parish Outreach Center. There will be boxes at the doors for
