develop and deliver satellite reaction wheel assemblies to both commercial and government customers.
100% on-time training completion rate achieved through creation of email review and record keeping process to
track and record safety training in place of outdated paper system, ensuring safety requirements were met.
Leveraged existing resources and processes to secure 42% increase in headcount key to accommodating
additional business demand of approximately 50% in space, missile, and marine business.
Secured follow-on business and improved customer relations after spearheading offsite project that included
overseeing staff shortages and updating key stakeholders – completing project ahead of schedule.
Senior Project Engineer (2006 – 2008)
Led cross-functional production team on projects supporting Standard Missile 3 Solid Divert Attitude Control System
(SDACS) program. Managed team priorities for production of (SDACS) valves. Evaluated components and final
assemblies per acceptance test procedures. Created technical presentations and documentation for internal and
customer reviews. Created specification and test procedure for shipping container.
Selected Achievements
92% to 94% increase in on-time delivery performance achieved by transforming engineering culture focused on
standardizing processes and reducing lead times in production of missile values.
12% reduction in project costs attained as result of developing specifications to build and test prototype shipping
container for missile values to replace use of expensive standard commercial carriers.
Lowered lead times after streamlining tracking system supporting hardware builds and customer communications,
enabling approximately 12 employees to gain total of three man hours of productive time back each day.
DELPHI – Lockport, NY 1996 – 2006
Professional Experience, Continued…
Delphi, Continued…
Oversaw product design and validation of automotive HVAC module assembly and components for GM full-size truck
project covering 1.6 million per year. Implemented design, warranty, tooling, and assembly improvements (DFMA,
Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), resulting in zero design-related defects. Submitted engineering
requirements to purchasing in order to achieve project requirements. Created component and final assembly drawings.
Reviewed, approved, and managed changes for all PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) packages. Monitored
injection mold tools built in Korea. Presented design changes and engineering estimates to GM customers.
Selected Achievements
15% in cost reductions for HVAC module components realized by leveraging value engineering principles to set and
meet cost/quality targets for parts purchased from suppliers.
12% in warranty costs cut on 1.6 million units per year volume after investigating high-quantity warranty returns and
updating HVAC housing design to add protective ribbing to eliminate damage due to handling.
Saved approximately 45 seconds of assembly time per unit with more than 6000 units produced per day through
implementation of newly-developed, one-piece evaporator seal.
Achieved zero design-related defects as result of establishing and maintaining extensive DFMEA (Design Failure
Mode Effects Analysis) matrix used to develop robust part features that met production requirements.
Product Development Team Leader / Manufacturing Engineer (1998 – 1999)
Managed production launch of new assembly cell for GM full-size truck automotive HVAC modules at Brownfield site in
central Mexico. Led weekly team meetings, quarterly workshops, and customer presentations. Tracked project
progress and expenses. Debugged and installed assembly cell; created and maintained all assembly documentation.
Trained new work force and Resident Engineers to take over operations. Achieved PPAP (Production Part Approval
Process) at first submission and passed customer-monitored run-at-rate on first attempt.
Selected Achievements
Lowered just-in-time delivery of parts from 13 days to 30 minutes by leading project to design and install HVAC
assembly cell in central Mexico that included creating all process documentation and training new Engineers and
Assemblers.
Exceeded first-time-through quality record 3% from previous generation design as result of successfully presenting
project concepts, plan, and updates to deliver high-volume HVAC units to GM Mexico customer.
Manufacturing Engineer (1996 – 1998)
Installed assembly cell operations for new automotive HVAC module designs in Juarez, Mexico (Greenfield Site).
Created and maintained all documentation for assembly operation including work instructions, PFMEA, PCP, PFD, etc.
Coordinated build of injection molds and all assembly equipment. Estimated new product labor and equipment costs.
Benchmarked business pursuit operation in Spain as part of quoting cellular manufacturing in US. In charge of
injection mold tool changes and maintenance of automotive HVAC housing cases. Reorganized assembly work station
layouts to effectively utilize floor space and improve ergonomics in plastics handling departments.
Selected Achievements
Developed and trained new team to design and build HVAC units for export vehicle market within new lean
manufacturing/assembly environment.
Reduced non-value added movements 15%+ by updating assembly cell layout that also improved operator’s total
operation cycle time.
Successfully managed parts bank build during three-month tool change two weeks ahead of schedule with zero
