list <strong>of</strong> all farms in Sullivan<br />

State Initiatives<br />
(not in any priority order)<br />
(1) Provide additional incentives to<br />
l<strong>and</strong>owners who rent their l<strong>and</strong> for<br />
farml<strong>and</strong> to maintain the rented<br />
l<strong>and</strong> farm base.<br />
(2) Create additional funding streams to assist towns<br />
<strong>and</strong> counties to implement the Ag <strong>and</strong> Farml<strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Protection</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>s the State has already sponsored.<br />
(3) Lower the gross sales limits a farmer needs in<br />
order to be eligible to receive ag assessments<br />
(currently $10,000 or more if 7 acres are farmed<br />
or $50,000 if less than 7 acres are farmed).<br />
(4) Increase the Farm to School initiatives.<br />
(5) Exp<strong>and</strong> local options for raising funds for PDR <strong>and</strong><br />
LDR programs including allowing for use <strong>of</strong> real<br />
estate transfer taxes.<br />
(6) Provide funding to reduce farm production costs<br />
through the use <strong>of</strong> on-farm methane digesters<br />
<strong>and</strong> solar or small wind facilities to reduce energy<br />
costs for farms.<br />
(7) Allow local governments to use the penalties that<br />
are collected when l<strong>and</strong> that has received ag<br />
assessments is taken out <strong>of</strong> production to be used<br />
for local PDR funding <strong>and</strong> other new farm<br />
incentives.<br />
(8) Create county by county information on cost <strong>of</strong><br />
services, cost/benefit analyses, economic<br />
multipliers, <strong>and</strong> fiscal impacts <strong>of</strong> l<strong>and</strong> conversion.<br />
