2012 sees the Curtin Careers Fair celebrating its 7 th year as the premium 

career fair in Western Australia for university students. Each year we listen 

and respond to feedback from both our students and employers to ensure the 

Curtin Careers Fair continues to provide the best service possible for all who 

attend. We think you will see the immediate benefits in these initiatives: 

• We continue to hold the Careers Fair at Curtin Stadium. 

• Employers recruiting international students have been highlighted. 

• The diversity of employers has continued to expand and this year we particularly

Review the list of companies attending the Careers Fair to 

identify employers you would like to meet with. 

Practice what you might say to potential employers, 

you should Include: 

• Your name. 

• Your degree. 

• When you are graduating. 

• Types of roles you are seeking. 

• Any work experience you have. 

Talk to the employers, don’t just collect the freebies! 

Develop some questions for the employers and write them on 

the employer profile page (for examples see the next Page). 

Approach the company representatives confidently and with a 

firm handshake. 

Make a note of all the important information, like closing 

dates, application processes and visa requirements. 

Collect business cards and write notes on the back to help you 

remember the employers you met.

The Independent Market Operator (IMO) 

operates the Western Australian Wholesale 

Electricity Market (WEM) which commenced 

in September 2006 after the government of the 

day disaggregated the state’s electricity utility 

(Western Power) and created a wholesale 

market open to competition and private sector 

investment. The IMO was established to 

oversee this wholesale market. 

In 2011, the IMO’s mandate was expanded to 

include gas as well as electricity when it was 

appointed to operate a Gas Information Service 

for Western Australia.
