ASIS is Australia’s overseas intelligence<br />

collection agency. ASIS’s mission is to protect<br />

and promote Australia’s vital interests through<br />

the provision of unique foreign intelligence<br />

services as directed by the Government.<br />

Working as an Intelligence Officer is a unique<br />

job that is challenging and exciting - it’s a role<br />

not just anyone can do. As an Intelligence<br />

Officer, you’ll gather intelligence overseas<br />

with the potential to help protect and promote<br />

Australia’s national interests and security.<br />

What We Look For In Applications<br />

Intelligence Officers plan, develop and<br />

manage intelligence operations overseas<br />

in often difficult environments that draw on<br />

their judgement, intellect and inner strengths.<br />

Intelligence Officers display personal courage,<br />

are highly motivated and have an innate<br />

sense of curiosity. They enjoy connecting with<br />

people from different cultures and overcoming<br />

obstacles to deliver results.<br />

How To Apply<br />

As a rough guide, the selection process for<br />

Intelligence Officers generally takes around<br />

seven months from the date of application to<br />

the offer of employment and covers a range of<br />

different selection phases.<br />

The selection process may include some, or all,<br />

of the following:<br />

• written application;<br />

• written test;<br />

• interview;<br />

• referee checks;<br />

• psychological testing;<br />

• participation in an Assessment Centre;<br />

• security assessment; and<br />

• medical assessment, including testing for<br />

prohibited substances.<br />

Following this lengthy selection process, as<br />

a successful applicant you will undertake<br />

extensive and demanding training in a<br />

residential environment. After passing the<br />

training course, you will have the opportunity to<br />

work overseas as an Intelligence Officer.<br />

The ATO is the government’s main revenue<br />

collection agency. We manage and shape tax<br />

and superannuation systems that fund services<br />

and community benefits, for Australians.<br />
