Description
The SSTUWA is the registered Industrial Union
for all School Administrators, Teachers, TAFE
Lecturers, School Psychologists and Swimming
Instructors employed by the Department of
Education, Western Australia.
Since 1898 the SSTUWA has been negotiating
with the State Government and Education
Department on improving workers rights
and conditions, salaries and quality public
education; on behalf of all public school
educators in WA. Since the 2008 General
Agreement, WA teachers are the highest paid
educators in Australia. This is a testament to
the strength and dedication of the SSTUWA and
its members and its commitment to delivering
quality public education to WA students.
What We Offer Curtin’s Graduates
In addition we have the newly formed NEN-
New Educator Network which has been
organised to support and assist student
teachers and new educators (teachers in
their 1st five years of teaching) with industrial
and professional issues. The NEN provides
specific training, PD’s, a collective voice to
raise new educator issues/concerns or ideas,
a support and social network, Facebook

NewEducatorNetworkWA/, opportunities to
attending State and National Conferences,
competitions and prizes and much more!
What We Look For In Applications
To be eligble to join as a student or full member,
once graduated, you must be working in or
looking for work in a WA public school, TAFE
or College.

As an Education Student you can apply for a
FREE student/complimentary membership
which will give you access to all the members
discounts and services, access to training
through our Education and Training Centre,
access to our Member Assist Call Centre for
advise and information and free and unrestricted
use to the Teacher Online Planning System
(TOPS)/Curriculum Organiser to help ease the
workload associated with curriculum, classroom
and school planning for K-12 teachers.
