<strong>Thorburn</strong>'s Single-<strong>Flex</strong> metallic bellows are specifically designed for piping<br />
applications requiring limited absorbtion of axial and lateral movements.<br />
Where small thermal movements are involved and proper anchoring and<br />
guiding is feasable, <strong>Thorburn</strong>'s Single-<strong>Flex</strong> "SF" series expansion joint<br />
system provides the most economical installation. Single-<strong>Flex</strong> is the base<br />
member of <strong>Thorburn</strong> metal expansion joint family, consisting of a bellows<br />
element and end fittings.<br />
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS<br />
The most common application for <strong>Thorburn</strong>'s Single-<strong>Flex</strong> expansion joint is<br />
to absorb axial movements of straight pipe between main anchors.<br />

Single-<strong>Flex</strong> "SF" should be placed near one anchor<br />
and guides should be used to assume proper<br />
alignment and movement control. Each anchor must<br />
be designed to restrain the full pressure thrust of the<br />
expansion joint.<br />

TEFLON LINED BELLOWS<br />

<strong>Thorburn</strong> Single-<strong>Flex</strong> expansion joint is located in the center of<br />
the piping run and each single bellows absorbs the axial movement<br />
of the section of piping in which it is located. <strong>Thorburn</strong> Single-<strong>Flex</strong><br />
expansion joints are also used to absorb small amounts<br />
of lateral movement. A directional main anchor must be used to<br />
absorb the pressure thrust.<br />
