Who we are and what makes us unique<br />

The Department of Human Services is responsible for<br />

the development of service delivery policy and provides<br />

access to social, health and other payments and<br />

services. It was created on 26 October 2004 as part of<br />

the Finance and Administration portfolio. The Human<br />

Services Legislation Amendment Act 2011 integrated<br />

Medicare Australia, Centrelink and CRS Australia on 1<br />

July 2011 into the Department of Human Services.<br />

What we look for in an employee<br />

Successful applicants will demonstrate:<br />

- an ability to undertake specialist or technical<br />

research and analysis and present information and<br />

findings<br />

- strong written and verbal communication skills<br />

- proven drive and integrity in relation to achieving<br />

work objectives and the ability to respond ethically to<br />

demands and circumstances<br />

- an ability to establish positive working relationships<br />

with team members and stakeholders<br />

- the ability to problem solve, think laterally and with<br />

innovation to make sound judgements and decisions.<br />

Graduate Program<br />

Our National Graduate Program (NGP) is not your<br />

ordinary graduate program. When you apply for our<br />

NGP you are applying to be part of something big.<br />

The NGP offers a multitude of opportunities that will<br />

allow you to use the skills and knowledge you gained<br />

through university and prior work experience.<br />

As part of the NGP, you will have access to numerous<br />

professional development opportunities, mentoring<br />

arrangements and specialist events.<br />

In addition, Professional pathway applicants will<br />

demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of<br />

contemporary issues and practices related to their<br />
