Who we are and what makes us unique<br />

The Department of Industry Portfolio was established<br />

on 18 September 2013.<br />

The new department consolidates the Australian<br />

Government’s efforts to drive economic growth,<br />

productivity and competitiveness by bringing together<br />

industry, energy, resources, science and skills.<br />

Through our policies we:<br />

• develop a highly skilled, educated and productive<br />

community through higher education, vocational<br />

education and training<br />

• invest in scientific engagement and awareness<br />

• focus Australia's research efforts to help our world<br />

class researchers and scientists carry out their work<br />

• drive productive, competitive and innovative business<br />

to face the challenge of a global economy<br />

• develop industries for the future that can recognise<br />

and capitalise on innovative ideas<br />

• foster collaboration and build capability as we work<br />

towards creating a more prosperous and internationally<br />

competitive Australia.<br />

• comprehensive training and development<br />

opportunities designed to provide you with the skills<br />

and capability to meet the challenges of working in the<br />

APS, leading to a formal qualification in management<br />

or economics.<br />

To be eligible for a graduate position you must:<br />

• Have completed a minimum of a three-year<br />

undergraduate degree, or have completed one by the<br />

end of 2013<br />

• Have an overseas qualification recognised by National<br />

Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR)<br />

• Be an Australian citizen<br />

• Be prepared to relocate to Canberra.<br />

Successful candidates will be required to undertake<br />

security and medical clearances and provide evidence<br />

of their tertiary qualifications and Australian<br />

citizenship.<br />
