The catchment is divided into eight sub catchments according to the Digital Elevation Model
(DEM) [1]. In Figure 2.9 the DEM and the sub catchments of the Zambezi are depicted. In
Table 2.1 the surface area of each of the sub catchments are written down. The names of the
sub catchments are taken from Chapagain (2000) except from the change of name of Lake
Malawi into Lake Nyasa.
