audiences in the biotech debate. Chapters like Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana,<br />
started using social media during the year that saw many people take a<br />
keen interest in biotechnology. Other communication channels that were<br />
used to target both local and international audiences include exhibitions,<br />
mass media, training and conferences.<br />
All the six chapters successfully held over 50 monthly meetings where<br />
various topics on biotechnology and biosafety were discussed. Chapter<br />
representatives also made topical presentations<br />
in five agricultural and scientific workshops<br />
and participated in four scientific exhibitions<br />
and supported two targeted media trainings.<br />
OFAB also partnered with Biosciences for<br />
Farming in Africa to conduct media fellowships<br />
in Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria,<br />
where up to 160 journalists were trained on<br />
effective agriculture reporting.<br />
