Flight Instruction
Let preschoolers take their Tube-
A-Loons outside and try to land
the Tube-A-Loons inside a hula
hoop or toss them through a hula
hoop held by Flight Crew Leaders.
Tube-A-Loons will gradually
deflate, but you can simply slip
off the rubber band and reinflate
it with a puff of air! Plus, what a
great reminder that when people
do things that make us feel
“deflated,” we can trust God to fill
us with his love and comfort!
Option 1: Tube-A-Loon
Gather preschoolers in a circle. Say: Today we’re learning that no matter
what people do…trust God! Sometimes people do things that make us
feel sad or bad. Let me show you what I mean. Hold up a Tube-A-
Loon that you’ve inflated and tied off. Say: Sometimes we feel happy
and full of fun—like this cool, long, colorful balloon!
1. Let kids toss the Tube-A-Loon around until you see that the Tube-A-Loon is
losing air.
2. Hold up the saggy Tube-A-Loon, and say: Uh-oh! Sometimes people are rough
or hurt our feelings. We feel sad and droopy, like this sad and droopy balloon!
Take off the rubber band, and say: But our special Bible verse says, “But those
who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like
eagles” (Isaiah 40:31). God gives us new
strength! That means we can take a deep
breath and trust that God will help us, no
matter what people do.
3. Take a deep breath. Hold the open end
of the Tube-A-Loon about a foot from
your mouth, and blow into it. Quickly tie
it off with a rubber band. Say: Even when
someone makes us sad, God can fill us
with his love and peace and joy! no matter
what people do…trust God! Now you can get your own Tube-A-Loon to try.
4. Give each preschooler a Tube-A-Loon, and help them inflate the balloons. Then
let leaders tie off the end of each one with a rubber band. As kids fly their
Tube-A-Loons around the room (or outside), remind them of today’s Bible
verse: “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar
high on wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31).
5. When children finish playing, let them gently deflate the Tube-a-Loons. Help
preschoolers place the “Fly Home & Try It” stickers on resealable bags. Kids can
squish or fold the Tube-A-Loons into the bags.
