Big Bubbles!
The day before you do this activity, use
the recipe below to fill a small wading
pool with bubble solution. Place a
cinder block or sturdy step stool in the
middle of the pool, and set a hula hoop
in the solution. Set it in an out-ofthe-way
area, covered with a tarp.
(Dust and dirt can make bubbles pop.)
Preschoolers will love getting to stand
in the middle of a huge bubble!
▶ 5 gallons distilled water
▶ 10 cups of Dawn dish soap (not
antibacterial)
▶ 5 cups glycerin (found in the first-aid
aisle of most grocery stores)
Option 1: Itty Bitty Bubble
Bottle
Before kids arrive, mix up a batch of
bubble solution, and fill up your own Itty
Bitty Bubble Bottle.
Hold up your bubble bottle, and ask:
What do you think these bubbles will do when I
blow them? (Fly away; pop; go everywhere.)
Blow the bubbles, and let kids jump and pop them or
blow them around the room. Ask:
Why didn’t the bubbles just stay in one spot?
(They move with the wind; they float away.)
Say: Even though the bubbles all start off in this Itty Bitty Bubble Bottle, when I
blow on them, they all float away! We don’t usually stay in one place—we go to
preschool, a friend’s house, the store, the library…lots of places. No matter where
you are…trust God! God is in all those places I just named. Let’s make some fun
bubbles to remind us of our Bible Point.
1. Have each Flight Crew gather around a
mixing bowl at a table.
2. Guide children in adding the following
ingredients to their bowl:
▶ 1 cup of distilled water
▶ 2 tablespoons of Dawn dish detergent
▶ 1 tablespoon of glycerin
Let children take turns carefully stirring
the solution.
3. Give each preschooler an Itty Bitty
Bubble Bottle, and write the child’s
name on it. Use the turkey baster
and a tablespoon to pour about
3 tablespoons of bubble solution into
each child’s bottle.
