C. Recreation<br />

1. Specifically describe each recreational component planned for the project:<br />

• Explain how the components contribute to the overall recreational goals and<br />

objectives.<br />

• Explain how the components are compatible with the environment and location.<br />

• Explain how the components will improve public health by encouraging physical<br />

activity.<br />

2. What national, state or local construction standards will be used for recreational<br />

facilities and amenities such as trails, restrooms, bike paths, etc.?<br />

3. If the project includes a trail, what construction materials will be used? Include any<br />

environmentally-friendly materials that will be used for trail construction (e.g.,<br />

permeable surfaces). What percentage of the proposed trail system will be ADA<br />

accessible? Describe accommodations.<br />

D. Conversion to River Parkways<br />

1. How is the property currently developed and used?<br />

2. How will the project convert the property into a <strong>river</strong> parkway? Include any plans for<br />

recreational and scenic amenities.<br />

3. How does the current use contribute to the economic, social and/or recreational life of<br />

the community? How will that change as a result of the project?<br />

4. Is the site currently occupied? Describe the number and type of occupants and any<br />

relocation plan.<br />

E. Conservation and Interpretive Enhancements<br />

1. Provide an overview of the planned conservation and interpretive enhancements.<br />

• For interpretive displays (e.g., signs, panels and/or kiosks explaining the history,<br />

biology, geology, etc., of the habitat the visitor may encounter):<br />

If more than one display is planned, what overall interpretive theme will<br />

connect them?<br />

What subjects will be explored and how will the information be presented?<br />

If continuing an interpretive style or tradition already used elsewhere in other<br />

facilities, what feedback has been received from staff or the public, if any, on its<br />

value or effectiveness?<br />
