Tony Orlando recently brought his show to
Broken Sound and was met with multiple
standing ovations and rave reviews from our
members. One of our members, Dick Asher,
was the lawyer who represented Tony when
signing his first hit, “Halfway to Paradise”, to
Epic Records. After the show, Tony joined the
Ashers at their home. The cocktail piano in
this picture,which has 66 keys, belonged to Al
Nevins who was one of the original Three Suns.
Al was a record producer and music publisher
who produced that first Tony Orlando hit. Neil
Sedaka, Carol King and many others played
their tunes for Al on this piano. It was gifted to
Dick Asher when Al Nevins passed away and
it arrived at their home in New Jersey one
Saturday afternoon on the back of a flatbed
truck with Al Nevin’s brother Morty playing
“Twilight Time”.

accomplishments on the
court. Greg was named
Player of the year for the
2009 season in the men’s
50 division. This is Greg’s
fifth Player of the year award in the last six
years. He also finished the 2009 season ranked
#1 in the state of Florida in both singles and
doubles. He also finished the 2009 season with
a #1 national ranking in the men’s 50’s.

Carl Ramallo, Dining Reservations
We would like to take
a moment to recognize
a person for the
incredible job he
performs which often
goes unnoticed.
Carl Ramallo, who
takes your dining
reservations, always
rises to the challenges presented, regardless
of the situation. He has proven himself to be a
conscientious, hard worker possessing
genuine dedication and talent.
Carl always approaches each task with a smile
on his face. His ability to multitask and his “can
do” attitude makes him a valuable asset to
Broken Sound Club. Members, as well as staff,
do not realize the “juggling”, the numerous
phone conversations and the time it takes to
try to ensure everyone’s reservation is handled
quickly and efficiently and for the time slot
requested.
Towards that end, we were notified that since
the inception of the new club dining reservation
program, Broken Sound is tied for first place in
terms of the number of reservations taken. The
Club we are tied with has three times the amount
of Members that we do.
Hats off to Carl and thank you for helping Broken
Sound be the best.
