Unival® BUTTERFLY VALVES
Installation, Start-Up and Maintenance
Data Sheets Manual
# – GUARANTEE.
UNIVAL® are guaranteed against any manufacturing default in accordance to the Sound Engineering Practice and provided the application,
installation and maintenance operations have been properly followed.
No claims derived from a wrong handling or no observation of Technical Rules are accepted.
The guarantee coverage does not apply to eventual damages caused by operation under duties other than the stated with the order
specification.
Our guarantee Coverage does not cover for any commissioning or in site maintenance jobs or either products proved to have been
tampered or faulted by material wear down.
The buyer is responsible to check that the in-coming product is received in good condition and in conformity to the ordered specifications,
otherwise an immediate complain must be issued to the carrier or our Company at +34 961479011.
# – ESSENTIAL SAFETY GUIDELINES.
- Do not install the valves before having carefully read this Operating Manual in order to avoid prospective damages to people and
property.
- Always use the valves within the scope of intended service and operating duties as per described in our data sheets, essential
safety working regulations are to be strictly kept.
- Only qualifi ed personnel should start up and regularly follow maintenance jobs at the plant.
- Any deviation from the usual installation guidelines should be notified to us for recommendation and approval.
- Whenever the valves are transferred to a third party, this manual or corresponding reproduction should also be handed and
translated into the corresponding language.
# – PRESERVATION, STORAGE & TRANSPORTATION
- Avoid temperatures below –20ºC or above 40ºC, high environmental humidity or corrosive environment. Keep the valves away
from dust, fl ames or rain to avoid rust of the valves surface.
- All valves are primed coated by a paint layer against corrosion during transport and storage, do not harm this layer.
- Avoid hitting or external vibrations, specially on the weak components such as levers or worm gears as well as damaging the
rubber seats. Do not pile up excessive weight.
- Do not use fragile parts such as hand wheels or levers to lift up or pull valves.
- Always use right handling equipment, weights are stated in the Data Sheets.
# – INSTALLATION
Bear in mind the following guidelines along with general installation practices:
- Allow for enough space to ease maintenance operations.
- Remove the protective caps if they were still fi t.
- Ensure that the valve internal is dust free and no foreign matter had came in.
- Protect the valve rubber seats from heating caused by welding works at the plant during commissioning.
- These valves are generally bi-directional , otherwise, please check the flow arrow and valve marking.
- Avoid gradients, excessive rotation and pipe misalignment that could cause pipe stress once installed in the pipe work. Counter
flanges should fi t smoothly.
- Stem can be installed in any position exception taken from valve DN 350 and above (horizontal stem position).
- Same as with preservation and storage do not use fragile parts such as hand wheels or levers to lift up or pull valves.
- Tightness gaskets are not required between the valve and the pipe counter flanges. The valve rubber facing is used for this
purpose. An excessive tightening onto the rubber facing could cause damages leading to further leakage, it is recommended to
tightening bolts diagonally and gradually. Increase the torque before final start up.
- Valves should be installed with open disc. The disc should not come out of the valve profile.
- All steam systems in the plant should be designed to prevent condensate depots which could lead to water hammers
- Should valves are to be operated by actuators, follow the instructions given in the specific actuator manual. Should the stem
position was horizontal, anchoring should be required depending of the complete valve and actuator assembly weight.
- Once the valve installed, make an initial opening and closure manoeuvre to check their proper performance.
Project engineers and contractors are responsible for the proper placement and commissioning of the valve.
