Experienced high school players and adults<br />
work and learn with world-class faculty. The<br />
workshops focus on jazz and Brazilian music<br />
through hands-on classes with vocalists<br />
joining trios and ensembles. Faculty-led jams,<br />
concerts, a lobster bake and options for on-site<br />
kayaking are also included.<br />

The KoSA International Percussion Workshop<br />
and Festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary<br />
this summer and welcomes students of all<br />
ages and levels to participate in daily classes,<br />
rhythm sections and nightly festival concerts.<br />

Some classes at this camp at the Kent School<br />
include combo, theory, composition, improv,<br />
jazz history and the business of music. Some<br />
electives are Latin big band, r&b band, boot<br />
camp for jazz musicians and jazz college fair<br />
night. Instruction is offered in all major<br />
instruments and voice.<br />

Arts is a two-week residential intensive for<br />
New York state high school age students. The<br />
camp focuses on performance, skills in<br />

New York Summer Music Festival<br />
Oneonta, New York<br />

This six-week camp is divided into three<br />
sessions of two weeks each for musicians of<br />
all levels between the ages of 11–25. The<br />
camp includes more than 50 ensembles and<br />
classes with over 40 public performances<br />
each summer. Visiting artists who have<br />
provided free master classes and concerts<br />
include Wycliffe Gordon, John Patitucci and<br />
Donny McCaslin.<br />
