Greetings,
Father Tony asked me to write a short article to
introduce myself, Fr. William (Bill) Stanfield, since the
Archbishop has asked me to be your new pastor/
administrator. I am delighted to be coming to Blessed
Teresa of Calcutta parish and to be able to follow such a
great priest. I have also heard many good things about the
parish and your staff, and I am looking forward to getting to
know you and serving with you.
I was born and raised in Waukesha, where my mother
still lives, and am the oldest of 7 children – 3 brothers and 3
sisters. My father died 6 years ago and my youngest sister,
who had Down’s Syndrome, died 4 years ago. Some of my
ancestors came from Germany (Goetz) and Ireland
(McKenna) and settled in the Holy Hill area and are buried
in the old St. Augustine’s cemetery and at Erin and Lake
Five. My family, except for one brother and his family, all
live in Waukesha County. One cousin I see advertises in the
bulletin. After finishing grade school at St. Mary’s I went to
the Seminary in Milwaukee, where Fr. Tony was also a
student, but 6 years ahead of me.
I was ordained in 1976 and have served as an
associate pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes in Milwaukee and
St. Joseph in Waukesha and pastor at St. Boniface in
Milwaukee, St. Michael in Sirari Tanzania (for 7 years as a
Maryknoll Associate), and St. Matthew in Oak Creek. Most
recently I have been the Director of Continuing Formation of
Clergy and Vice Rector and Director of Pastoral Formation
at St. Francis de Sales Seminary. If it matters, I received my
Doctorate in Ministry from the University of St. Mary of the
Lake in Mundelein, Illinois. I am now looking forward to
returning to parish ministry and especially to joining you at
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta in continuing the mission and

I enjoy reading, mostly religious related books, and going
to plays, musicals, and the symphony. I occasionally bike ride
and used to cross country ski and play racquetball, but most
of all enjoy being with people – so please do feel free to
invite me to your homes, and since I am a terrible cook, for a
meal too! Raised with 6 brothers and sisters and having lived
in Africa, I eat anything and am used to simple food!
I know that as your new pastor I have a lot to learn
about you and the parish, so I will be working out a way so
that I can meet with all of you, probably in groups of 6 – 10
in your homes or at the parish, to find out from you more
about the parish and where we should be going in the
future. I have been told that the question of a larger church is
a pressing issue at this point. I do want you to know that I am
not coming with any preconceived ideas that I feel need to be
done differently than what you want and need. I know Fr.
Tony has provided great leadership and that your wonderful
staff provides many good programs, all of which I am looking
forward to learning more about and getting involved with
and continuing. I enjoy working with children, youth, and
families. I have a great love for adult formation and social
outreach. And I appreciate all of you who serve on the
various committees and as participants in the many good
efforts the parish is making. I hope I will be able to help you
continue these and all the areas of ministry going on at
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish and to grow in response to
God’s call to us. I am looking forward to meeting all of you
and beginning to work with you as of June 19 th .

Our Summer Lunch program starts this
week. Cookie bakers, please bring your
delicious donations to the lower level of the
North Lake church on Sunday, June 24. If
you forgot, you can still bring them to the
parish office...but please hurry. We start
packing lunches at 8:30 am on Monday, June 25.
It costs us about $1 per child per lunch to participate
in the Summer Lunch Program. Each parish participating
Vincent de Paul organization pays for their own
week. We've got some great lunches planned this
year. Entrees include: hot dogs, ham and cheese
sandwiches, breaded chicken patties, hot doggie mac and
cheese delight, and at the kid's request last year, pbj's.
Otherwise, there's plenty of room in the poor boxes at
church for some spare dollar bills for one or two bag
lunches. Thanks for remembering those who need your
help. God bless you and your family, and have a fun-filled
June to start your summer off!

The US Bishops have suggested that fourteen days from
June 21 to July 4 be dedicated to a “fortnight for freedom” – a
great hymn of prayer for our country. This special period of
prayer, study, catechesis and public action will support the
ongoing struggle to protect religious freedom and conscience
rights. Archbishop Listecki will be the main celebrant for two
Masses during this time period - the 4 pm Mass at St. Matthew
Parish, one of the oldest parishes in our archdiocese, and a
special Mass on the Fourth of July at 9 am at St. Mary’s
Visitation Parish, Elm Grove. Bishop Hying will be the celebrant
for the 7:30 pm Mass at Holy Angels, West Bend. More

A Holy Hour for Freedom with a Candle Light Procession at

Theology-on-Tap 2012: Tap Into Something More
Theology-on-Tap, a four week summer speaker series for single
and married adults in their 20s and 30s, will run from July 9 –

It's Farmers Market Season!
We are so excited to announce the first market of our third
season. The market will be held every other Thursday starting
June 7 th from 3-6pm and running until September 27 th . We are
so happy to have 11 returning vendors and we would like to
welcome our new vendors who are excited to share their
products with you. For your listening pleasure we have Ben
Rogaczewski on the acoustic guitar. Can't wait to see you on

Heart of the Nation will be filming five Masses on Saturday,
June 30 at Christ King Chapel in St. Francis de Sales Seminary
(north of the Cousins center). We are in need of assembly
members to present a full, vibrant congregation of Milwaukeearea
worshipers for the nation to see. The Mass times are at 9
a.m., 10 a.m., 11a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Attendees are
encouraged to stay for at least two Masses, as they are shorter
than a regular Sunday liturgy. For further information, please

homebound Catholics, and air every Sunday at 5:30 a.m. on
WITI, Channel 6 and at 9 a.m. on WCGV, Channel 24.
World Youth Day 2013
(July 21-30, 2013 – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
The John Paul II Center of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is planning
a Young Adult (college age thru age 39) pilgrimage to World
Youth Day 2013 to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. If you or your parish is

Day Pilgrimage Planned to
Our Lady of Good Help Shrine
Sisters of the Divine Savior will host a day trip to visit the
Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, Wis. on
Thursday, August 9. The shrine is the site of the only
authenticated apparition of the Blessed Mother in the U.S. The
round trip aboard a Wisconsin Coach tour bus includes pick-up
and drop-off at the I-45/Watertown Plank and I-43/Brown
Deer Road commuter parking lots, and a stop at Mackinaw’s
Grill in Green Bay for lunch. Invite a friend and reserve your
