ourney to where the Patuxent River meets the<br />
Chesapeake Bay and shop for handmade holiday<br />
items. More than 150 crafters from Southern<br />
Maryland will sell their handmade items at the 30th<br />
annual Pax River Arts and Crafts Festival onDec. 1,<br />
2007. The fair is free and open to the public from 10<br />
a.m.-3p.m.<br />
At the festival you will find one-of-a-kind items for<br />
holidaygift-giving orhomedécor.Eachyearthe selection<br />
of items changes as crafters showcase new items.<br />
Last yeartherewereoriginalartsand crafts,handmade<br />
holidaydecorations,stained glass,jewelry,woodcrafts,<br />
ornaments, handmade baskets, quilts, toys and clothing.<br />
Santa Claus often visits the festival to wel<strong>com</strong>e children<br />
and pose for photographs. Instant photos with<br />
Santa can be purchased and each child will receive a<br />
candycane treat.Food and drink isavailable in the Café<br />
300 snackbarinsidethe Bowling Center.<br />
The fair is held inside Naval Air Station Patuxent<br />
River’slarge Drill Hall. NavalAirStationPatuxentRiver<br />
islocated nearthe townofLexington ParkinSt.Mary’s<br />
County on Highway235(Three NotchRd.).<br />
From Washington, D.C. take Interstate 95to exit 7A<br />
(towards Waldorf) and then south onRt. 5through<br />
Clinton (CharlesCounty). Turnleftoff of the 301/5onto<br />
Rt.205(Mattawoman-BeantownRd.) until itends,then<br />
left back onto Route 5.Proceed south onRt. 5until<br />
Mechanicsville. Stay on the main highway, as it<br />
be<strong>com</strong>es Route 235 towards Lexington Park. (Do not<br />
followRt.5when itforkstowardsLeonardtown).<br />
From Anne Arundel County take Route 2/4 south<br />
through Calvert County, crossing the Thomas AStone<br />
Bridge over the Patuxent River.Turn left at the light<br />
onto235south.<br />
Shoppers withstationaccess mayenterthrough Gate<br />
1and proceed tothe Drill Hall. Othervisitors should go<br />
to Gate 2and be prepared for a100% ID check and<br />
security inspection with proof ofinsurance and registration.<br />
Near Gate 2is the Frank Knox building’slarge<br />
parkinglotwhereashuttle bus will carryyoutothe fair.<br />
Please remember tobring photo IDs (drivers’ license<br />
and/ormilitary ID)foreveryone in the group. Ashuttle<br />
bus will be available from Gate 2for shoppers who do<br />
nothavestationaccess but areU.S.citizens.Remember<br />
tobring your ownlarge shopping bagstocarryout your<br />
purchases.<br />
