IER Casinos Los Lonely Boys & Los Lobos Heat Up The Fantasy Springs Summer Concert Scene Since bursting onto the mainstream music scene in 2004 with the song “Heaven,” selfdescribed “Texican” rockers Los Lonely Boys have developed a fan base of millions. Los Lobos is a multiple Grammy Award winning American Chicano rock band, influenced heavily by rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, soul, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music. These two musical powerhouse bands perform on the same bill for one night at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Saturday, July 30, at 8pm. Los Lonely Boys’ fourth studio album called Rockpango (a Spanglish word that means “rock party”) was released to much anticipation on March 29. In 2003, the trio recorded an album at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales recording studio in Austin, Texas, according to the band’s website. “Heaven” was the group’s first single from the album and it reached number one on the Adult Contemporary chart, and went on to win them a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The group has gone on to collaborate with the legendary Carlos Santana and lend their voices to world issues such as Amnesty International’s Campaign to Save Darfur. Los Lobos has been performing and releasing albums since the mid-1970s. The band’s first critically acclaimed album came in 1984, “How Will the Wolf Survive,” produced by T-Bone Burnett. Los Lobos worked with Burnett on their next album, “By the Light of the Moon,” released in 1987. Los Lobos became a household name upon recording covers of Ritchie Valens To celebrate the desert community, the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino are inviting the public to a free fireworks show. The event takes place on Tuesday, July 5 with the fireworks blasting off at 9pm (or just after dusk) from the Eagle Falls Golf Course. The public is welcome to congregate around the Eagle Falls pro shop and the surrounding parking lot. “We want to acknowledge the tremendous service of our women and men who have served and continue to serve this nation. It remains important, even in trying times, to bring family, friends, and neighbors together,” said Chairman David Roosevelt of the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians. All ages are welcome and The Eagle 106.9FM will play the soundtrack to the event and broadcast live. The public is encouraged to get to the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino for the soundtrack of the movie “La Bamba.” The title track earned Los Lobos a number one hit. The band went on to release 13 more albums, including their most recent, “Tin Can Trust,” in 2010.
