“Occupational exposure” means a specific eye, mouth, other mucous membrane, non-intact<br />
skin, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials resulting from<br />
the per<strong>for</strong>mance of an employee’s activities.<br />
“OSHA” means the Federal Occupational Safety <strong>and</strong> Health Administration.<br />
“Other potentially infectious material” means the following human body fluids: semen,<br />
vaginal secretions, saliva, <strong>and</strong> any other body fluid visibly contaminated with blood.<br />
“Parenteral” means piercing mucous membranes or the skin barrier through such events as<br />
needle sticks <strong>and</strong> piercings.<br />
“Permanent cosmetic practitioner” or “micropigmentation practitioner” means a person<br />
who practices micropigmentation, except that the term micropigmentation practitioner shall<br />
not include in its meaning any physician or osteopath licensed under Chapter 34 of Title 43<br />
or a person acting under the direct control or supervision of such physician or osteopath.<br />
“Permit” means departmental approval in writing authorizing the administrative body to<br />
operate a body art establishment <strong>for</strong> the purpose of engaging in the practice or business of<br />
body art procedures. Department approval shall be granted solely <strong>for</strong> the practice of body art<br />
pursuant to these regulations.<br />
“Person” means an individual, any <strong>for</strong>m of business or social organization or any other nongovernmental<br />
legal entity, including but not limited to corporations, partnerships, limitedliability<br />
companies, associations, trusts or unincorporated organizations.<br />
“Personnel” means the permit holder, any person who per<strong>for</strong>ms body art, individuals having<br />
supervisory or management duties, or any other person employed or working in a body art<br />
establishment. This individual may or may not be a body artist.<br />
“Physician” or “osteopath” means an individual licensed to practice medicine in Georgia.<br />
“Pierce” or “piercing” means body piercing<br />
“Potable water” means water that is from an approved water system that is safe <strong>for</strong> drinking.<br />
“Premises” means the physical location of an establishment which offers <strong>and</strong> per<strong>for</strong>ms body<br />
art procedures.<br />
“Proof of age” means a driver’s license or other generally accepted means of identification<br />
that describes the individual as eighteen (18) years of age or older, contains a photograph,<br />
<strong>and</strong> appears on its face to be valid.<br />
“Regulated waste” means liquid or semi-liquid blood or other potentially infectious<br />
materials; contaminated items that would release blood or other potentially infectious<br />
materials in a liquid or semi-liquid state if compressed; items that are caked with dried blood<br />
