Dear UK & Irish Maize Grower,
This book contains the results of the PACTS ® (Pioneer Accurate Crop Testing System) Maize Forage
and Grain Trials conducted in the UK & Ireland between 2009 and 2012.
Although 2012 was a challenging year for nearly every grower in our region 2013 is a new
opportunity to exploit the unique benefits that maize possesses. Information for DuPont Pioneer
hybrids and how they are likely to perform in the UK & Ireland is shown inside. In addition to
the usual yield and quality results we also present, for the first time, information on the gas yield
potential for each hybrid.
PACTS ® Trial Performance Highlights
P6862 – this extra early maturity hybrid was launched in 2012, specifically for those growers looking
for high silage quality and the earliest possible harvesting dates. In 2012 P6862 continued to show
that it is the earliest maturity hybrid in the Pioneer range.
PR39V43 – Is a very early maturity hybrid that has now proven itself in six years of PACTS trials. In
2012 PR39V43 once again produced high yields with consistent early maturity. It completed starch
formation quickly making it suitable for producing both forage and dry grain or crimped maize.
P7892 – Launched in 2012 this very early maturity, large stature, silage hybrid has again given very
high yields. It has a strong package of agronomic features including very good early vigour and fast
stover dry down. P7892 is likely to increase in popularity in 2013.
P7524 – A new early silage hybrid for 2013. P7524 is a hybrid with a striking appearance, very tall
with very good early vigour and high dry matter yields. It is ideally suited to growers looking to
surpass their current silage dry matter yield levels and is likely to also find favour with those growing
for biogas usage.
P7905 – Another new Early maturity hybrid for 2013. P7905 has given very high yields of high
quality silage in two years of PACTS trials, when grown either in the open or under film. P7905
promises to raise the starch and dry matter yield performance bar for growers on favourable sites in
the open and those planting using the Samco System.
JUSTINA – Reliability and consistency has maintained JUSTINA’s position as one of the most popular
maize hybrids of recent years. JUSTINA can rightly be called “The Great All-Rounder” because of its
ability to cope with a wide range of field conditions to produce silage or grain.
Pioneer ® Brand Inoculants
The Pioneer range of proprietary silage inoculants for the UK & Irish farmer has a wider range of
applications than ever before.
The traditional products - PIONEER ® 1188, PIONEER ® 11G22 and PIONEER ® 11A44 - are now fully
complemented by the new Fibre Technolgy product range including PIONEER ® 11GFT, PIONEER ®
11CFT, PIONEER ® 11CH4 and PIONEER ® 11AFT.
