SECTION VI<br />
DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE<br />
VI.1 Work Rules<br />
The <strong>College</strong> has adopted work rules to promote fair and even-handed treatment of all employees and to ensure that<br />
employee working conditions will be free from dangerous, disrupting and costly behavior of others. The following<br />
work rules are not intended to be a complete description of inappropriate conduct, but rather they set forth examples<br />
of conduct the <strong>College</strong> considers to be grounds for discipline, up to and including discharge in appropriate<br />
circumstances.<br />
A. Refusing to obey the orders of a supervisor.<br />
B. Destruction of or damage to the <strong>College</strong>’s property or the property of other employees.<br />
C. A slow-down, interference or delay of work by an employee or of the work of other employees.<br />
D. Theft or unauthorized possession of the <strong>College</strong>’s property or the property of other employees or of<br />
students.<br />
E. Bringing to the workplace any intoxicant, illegal drug or controlled substance. Reporting for work or being<br />
on the job under the influence of (or having consumed) alcoholic beverages or having in the body any<br />
illegal drugs or controlled substances, including marijuana (not prescribed by a physician).<br />
F. Dishonesty, including falsifying an application for employment or other data requested by the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
G. Immoral or indecent conduct.<br />
H. Bringing to work, possessing or utilizing on the <strong>College</strong>’s premises any firearm, weapon, ammunition,<br />
fireworks or explosives.<br />
I. Fighting<br />
J. Sleeping on the job<br />
K. Unauthorized disclosure or acquisition of confidential information of the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
L. Refusal to complete the assigned work schedule or leaving the job without the approval of the immediate<br />
supervisor.<br />
M. Clocking the time card of one employee by another, altering a time card or falsifying a time card.<br />
N. Violating the <strong>College</strong>’s Code of Ethics or other policies.<br />
O. Loitering or loafing during work hours.<br />
P. Smoking, except in designated areas.<br />
Q. Creating or contributing to unsanitary conditions,<br />
R. Violating safety rules or practices.<br />
S. Neglect of <strong>College</strong> equipment or property.<br />
<strong>Flagler</strong> <strong>College</strong> at its option, may change, delete, suspend or discontinue parts or the policy in its <br />
entirety, at any time and without prior notice. In the event of a policy change, employees will be <br />
notified. Any such action shall apply to existing as well as future employees. Page 33
