Nursing reports
Pyxis MedStation
system
The Pyxis MedStation system provides reporting tools that
contribute to the efficient use of the system. With each
transaction, critical data is collected and captured in reports
for user review and action. Detailed data is available at the
Pyxis MedStation system for up to 32 hours after a transaction
takes place, and for 31 days at the Pyxis MedStation console.
Continuous review of the information contained within the reports
is essential to maximize the safety and security of the system.
CareFusion recommends the following reports for routine review and use. Additional reports are also available at the station to be
reviewed and used on an as-needed basis. Please refer to your Pyxis MedStation system User Guide for additional reporting tools
that may help you optimize medication safety and departmental efficiency.
By user
• Verify password security.
• Double check charting
accuracy.
• Identify medications
vended that were not
documented (e.g., verbal
orders from MD and/or
MAR documentation).
• Verify that medication
wastes documented at the
station are also recorded in
the administration record.
• Users should periodically run
a report on activity to validate
that an order has been written
for every medication removed
on override.
• Preceptors may benefit from
running an Activity report on
orientee to double check against
vended meds vs. charted meds.
• This report is beneficial for
users on busy units where large
volumes of pain and/or prn
medications are administered
(e.g., 6-7 patients, pain meds
q3-4 hours) to verify MAR
documentation.
