COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM
The Council’s Community Grants Program
helps not-for-profit community groups fund
projects in areas like childhood development,
sport and recreation, the arts, environmental
and cultural appreciation.
The program helps boost participation
in community life, share resources and
opportunities fairly across the Kingborough
region, and help people and groups with a
strong service commitment to fulfil their
potential.
There are generally two funding rounds each
year. Each round has $30,000 available in total,
with individual grants up to $5,000.
The grants provide half the cost of the projects
involved, with the recipients matching the
amounts dollar-for-dollar or in-kind.
Applications must meet certain selection
criteria.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Are you planning a public event in the
Kingborough municipality?
To hold an event on Council land, you’ll need
to complete an Event Application form. Along
with our Guide to Managing Community
Events in Kingborough, it’s available at www.
kingborough.tas.gov.au or by calling 6211
8200.
The Guide to Managing Community Events also
includes the following forms:
• Temporary Occupancy Permit (for
structures);
• Temporary Food Application (if you intend
to cater or sell food); and
• Temporary Place of Assembly Licence.
These applications are required by our Building
and Environmental Health Departments, which
can be contacted to help you.
Our Community Liaison Officer is also available
to discuss your event planning. You should call
as early as possible before your event, to leave
time for the permit process.
The Kingborough Community Events Calendar
is distributed by e-mail on the first day of each
month, as well as on our website.
