CUSTOMER SERVICE
Our friendly and skilled Customer Service Team is your first point of contact when dealing with
Council either by phone or in person.
The Customer Service Team is supported by a team of technical specialists from various

Rates and Services
Just as higher governments collect taxes to
fund services, the Council collects rates to
fund the assets services it provides for the
community – including roads, footpaths,
bridges, parks and reserves, animal control,
youth and aged services, environmental
management, and planning services.
Property rates are Council’s main source of
revenue. Valuations provided by the Valuer-
General are used to calculate the rates on each
property.
You’ll receive quarterly rates notices in the
mail, requiring payment.
Rates can be paid at the Civic Centre, by mail,
at any post office, by phone on 1300 886 451
(24 hour service), via BPAY through your bank,
by internet at www.kingborough.tas.gov.au, via
Centrepay at Centrelink, or by direct debit.

You can now register to receive your rates
notice electronically with BPAY View.
What is BPAY View
BPAY View allows you to receive and view
your rates notice online through the secure
environment of your internet banking provider.
This means no more paper and you can still pay
your rates by the method that suits you.

PENSIONER AND GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE
CARD HOLDERS RATE REMISSION
Eligible Pensioner and Government Health
Care Card holders are entitled to a remission of
rates, subject to a range of criteria.
Ratepayers who have not previously claimed
the remission and who hold a Pensioner
Concession Card, DVA Gold Card (endorsed TPI
or widow only) or Government Health Care
Card prior to 1 July 2015 will need to complete
an application form at the Civic Centre when
you next visit, but no later than 31 March 2016.
Please bring your concession card and rates
notice with you. Pensioners already receiving a
remission do not need to re-apply.
This remission does not apply to holders of the
Commonwealth Seniors Health Cards.
