INSTALLING ARCGIS ENGINE RUNTIME ON WINDOWS<br />

If the <strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong> Runtime setup is launched,<br />

and <strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong> Runtime already exists on the<br />

machine, the setup will execute as a maintenance<br />

installation.<br />

c. If no <strong>ArcGIS</strong> products are shown in the programs list, proceed to Step 2. If<br />

<strong>ArcGIS</strong> products are shown in the programs list, click Support Information<br />

to view the version of the product.<br />

d. If the versions displayed are the same, proceed to Step 2. If the versions<br />

displayed are not the same, the products need to be removed before installing<br />

<strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong> Runtime. Do not proceed to Step 2 until these products<br />

have been uninstalled.<br />

2. Launch the <strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong> Runtime installation program by navigating to the<br />

CD drive location and double-clicking the setup.exe file.<br />

3. In the installation, click Next if all Windows applications are closed.<br />

4. Review and accept the license agreement and click Next to proceed with the<br />

installation.<br />

5. Choose the installation type and click Next to continue.<br />

The Select Installation Type panel of the <strong>ArcGIS</strong><br />

<strong>Engine</strong> Runtime installation wizard is illustrated<br />

on the right. The possible types are discussed<br />

below.<br />

A Typical installation includes the Arc<strong>Engine</strong><br />

feature. In addition, if the .NET Framework is<br />

detected, the DotNetRuntime feature will be<br />

installed.<br />

When Complete is selected all available <strong>ArcGIS</strong><br />

<strong>Engine</strong> Runtime features are installed. If the<br />

.NET Framework prerequisite is not detected,<br />

the DotNetRuntime feature will be excluded.<br />

If your <strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong>-based application utilizes<br />

Java, your user can select Custom and manually<br />

choose the JavaRuntime feature. As noted above<br />

a Complete installation also installs the<br />

JavaRuntime feature.<br />

If the <strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong>-based application to be installed requires Java, choose<br />

Custom to manually select the JavaRuntime feature or choose Complete to<br />

install all <strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong> Runtime installation features.<br />

6. Follow any further instructions of the <strong>ArcGIS</strong> <strong>Engine</strong> Runtime installation<br />

until it indicates that the installation is complete. If you installed, and intend<br />

to use, the Java feature, proceed to Step 7. If not, the installation of <strong>ArcGIS</strong><br />

<strong>Engine</strong> Runtime is now complete. Proceed to the installation steps for if needed.<br />
