believes in the notion
that educators create
the pupils and faculty
reaches beyond the
affirms and nurtures
the spirit, as it
challenges the mind.
In this way, the faculty
fulfills the founding
Graduation Day at Rajalakshmi
Engineering College
What is Polycystic
Ovarian Syndrome
(PCOS) ?
It is a complex problem
to understand and
treat! Possibly PCOS
is a condition which
begins due to a slight
increase in body fat.
Body fat produces
changes which offsets
the normal production
of female hormones
ion a cyclical manner,
as well as produces
a condition called
“insulin resistance”.
This may lead to
affection in women at
various aspects like:
a. In Young girls:
delayed puberty
b. Unwanted hair
growth over the face
and body
c. Excessive acne
d. Irregular often
delayed monthly
cycles (may present
as heavy bleeding in
some women)
e. Appearance of a
dark pigmented ring
around the neck
f. Excessive further
gain in weight in
spite of best efforts in
trying to lose it
g. Infertility
h. Diabetes, High BP
and High cholesterol
in older women
How do we treat
PCOS?
PCOS requires a team
to treat depending
upon what the patients
presenting symptom.
If skin symptoms like
acne ,hairgrowth and
hairfall are prominent
the services of a
cosmetic dermatologist
is required along with
hormonal medication.
Hormonal medications
for PCOS usually are
oral contraceptive pills
(birth control pills)
which are well tolerated
and safe. They have an
especially beneficial
and quick effect in
young ladies with acne
They are also useful in
selected patients with
excess hair growth but
the treatment does
take a few months
to show its effects.
later in life PCOS
does cause difficulty
in conception once a
woman is planning
pregnancy. Treatment
with metformin a
drug used to treat
diabetes is helpful in
increasing chance of
conception along with
oral medication like
clomiphene. Usually an
endocrinologist and a
gynaecologist together
treat patients with
PCOS and difficulty
with conception.
PCOS in childhood
and young adulthood
is a proven risk factor
for diabetes and heart
disease later in life
especially in those
who are obese. Annual
monitoring for diabetes
and positive life style
changes like regular
exercise,yoga,healthy
eating are key aspects
of care of women with
PCOS throughout their
life.
take
regular
medications. Other
causes are Hepatitis B
and C infections, which
silently damage the liver,
many of them can be
managed with medicines
but 5% of them may
progress to liver failure.
Obesity is a cause
of concern amongst
the youth of
India, due to their
sedentary lifestyles,
uncontrolled diabetes,
consumption of junk
fatty foods, with no
exercise regimen.
One of the major
outcomes of obesity
is a condition called
nonalcoholic fatty
liver disease (NAFLD)
which can lead to
cirrhosis. NAFLD
affects about 25% of
people in the India.
Speaking on the occasion
of 'World liver day'
leading Liver specialist
Dr. B. S. Ramakrishna
said nonalcoholic fatty
liver disease can reach
epidemic proportions in
don’t know can learn
it from the person
who know and left.
As far as legal field
is concern. This is a
noble profession where
everybody can shine.
Sky is the limit where
you can do service to
poor people and needy
and get good name. If
you see the freedom
fighters of our country
ninety percent of them
were lawyers. Only
one fear which I think
about the colleges is
that the students are
doing very well but
ultimately they land up
in corporate sectors,
nobody is coming to
the litigation field. The
reason is initially for a
period of ten years this
is not very lucrative
but after ten years you
are the masters of the
field. So, I request the
students and parents
to guide and allow the
children to practice
on the legal side, to
practice and shine in
the future. All the best
to all of you.
Speech of Hon’ble
Justice Tmt. Pushpa
Satyanarayana:
I should now applaud
the enduring efforts
... World liver day
the years to come with
improper lifestyles that
our youth is tempted to
adopt.
Speaking on the
occasion Dr. Rajasekhar
Perumalla, Senior
Liver Transplant
Surgeon, at SIMS
Hospital, Vadapalani,
Chennai highlighted
the alarming increase
in the incidence of the
liver diseases among
Indian population said
liver transplantation is
certainly a life-saving
operation for patients
with end-stage liver
disease.
Measures to prevent
liver disease:
o Exercise: Maintain
a healthy weight and
obesity can cause
nonalcoholic fatty
liver disease. Regular
exercise for at least
30-60 minutes/day is
recommended.
o Diet: Avoid high
carbohydrates and
fats in diet. Increase
protein intake and
of Saveetha School
of Law, to organise
at frequent intervals
competitions on
contemporary issues
of relevance,where
students of all the law
colleges across the
nation can deliberate
upon. Today’s topic is
almost an unexplored
subject and equally we
were also enthusiastic
about the topic. Those
who have chosen the
topic hats off to them.
This is an area where
no law has been laid
down and this is also
the arguments and
the questions which
the teams faced from
us. But this is very
interesting because not
all the nations in the
world have accepted the
concept of Surrogacy.
And India also though
it is made legal there
is no norms or rules
been laid down. The
surrogacy itself is a
very subjective feeling.
One question I asked
the team for which even
I am yet to receive
an answer, when the
biological parents
themselves abandon
the child, if the child
is born with deformity
o Avoid alcohol:
o Avoid risky behavior.
Get help if you use
illicit intravenous
drugs, and don't share
drugs. Use a condom
during sex. If you
choose to have tattoos
or body piercings,
be picky about
cleanliness and safety
when selecting a shop.
o Universal vaccination.
o Use medications
wisely.
o Avoid contact with other
people's blood and
body fluids. Hepatitis
viruses can be spread
by accidental needle
sticks or improper
cleanup of blood or
body fluids.
and here if this goes
by a commercial
agreement where the
surrogate mother is
forced to give up the
rights of the child and
the intending parents
also want to abandon
the child who will take
care of the child. In a
country where it is over
populated and these
kinds of problems often
happen in surrogacy
would lead to all these
question. Whether this
is to addressed as a
public interest. It was
a moot point today also.
Though it involves more
of private interest but
it is a matter ofpublic
interest, because it is
in the interest of the
nation. It is a very
sensitive subject when
a woman is concerned.
In moot courts when
you are given such
kind of topics that gives
you vision of larger
prospective and you get
to know the awareness
of the current issues in
the law.
These moot courts also
increases advocacy
and promotes public
speaking. I am very
happy to see these
children arguing as if
Lots of kids don't
have perfect teeth, so
don't worry if yours
aren't straight. Take
a look at most of your
classmates. Many of
them probably don't
have straight teeth
either. Sometimes
teeth just don't grow
in evenly.Your teeth
might be crooked, or
your upper and lower
jaws might not be the
same size.
Either way it's called
malocclusion, a word
that comes from Latin
and means "bad bite."
Malocclusion is just a
word that dentists use
to describe the shape of
your mouth.
Today, braces are
in a real court of law
without any training.
I wish more and more
students take part in
this and can have these
mock moot courts
even in intra-colleges.
Many of the students
who participate in
such inter-college
are creamy layer
students. We also
need to encourage the
students who are not
readily willing to take
part but if this moot
court is made a part of
curriculum even they
will be trained. Most
of thecreamy layer
students get into the
corporate sectors, few
come into the litigation
and now the scenario
has to change because
it’s equally lucrative
but to rise to that level
you have to work.
No pain no gain.
The efforts what you
put at this young age
may not be rewarded
immediately but
will certainly will
give you a bigger
reward in future. I
would say that I am
a classic example of
this, I haven’t been
a very great lawyer
but I was a sincere
DENTAL BRACES
much less noticeable.
Metal braces are still
used, but you might
be able to get clear
braces or braces that
are the same color
as your teeth. There
are even braces that
go behind your teeth
where no one can see
them.
The wires that are used
in braces today are
also smaller and better
than they used to be,
and they're made of a
space-age material that
straightens your teeth
faster and easier. The
rubber bands that go
along with braces come
in funky colors now,
too. So you could have
black and orange ones
for Halloween! Metal
Braces starts from
INR18,000 onwards
