c. Authorizes the hours <strong>of</strong> election for Annual <strong>School</strong> Board Election, April 17,<br />

d. Authorizes judges <strong>of</strong> each election district to declare the opening and closing <strong>of</strong><br />

polls at the respective districts for the Annual <strong>School</strong> Board Election, April 17,<br />

e. Authorizes the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Education to pay the prevailing rate <strong>of</strong><br />

4. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves the following resolution for fair distribution <strong>of</strong> State Aid<br />

for Education:<br />

RESOLUTION<br />

2006-2007<br />

Support <strong>of</strong> Efforts to Obtain A Fair Distribution <strong>of</strong> State Aid for Education and<br />

Property Tax Payers<br />

WHEREAS, the <strong>Jackson</strong> Township Board <strong>of</strong> Education, Ocean County, New Jersey, is<br />

constitutionally responsible to deliver a thorough and efficient <strong>education</strong> for all<br />

students <strong>of</strong> the school district; and<br />

WHEREAS, the <strong>Jackson</strong> Township Board <strong>of</strong> Education has worked cooperatively with<br />

the delegation from the Ninth (9 th ) Legislative <strong>District</strong> and similarly impacted<br />

school districts throughout the State to establish a fair distribution <strong>of</strong> future state<br />

aid by considering the aid history for the last six school years and adding<br />

“transition aid” for the next six school years; and<br />

WHEREAS, the legislators <strong>of</strong> the Thirtieth (30 th ) Legislative <strong>District</strong> are leading a<br />

statewide Petition aimed at bringing a voice to New Jersey taxpayers on this issue<br />

in an effort to have the school funding formula changed to provide substantial and<br />

lasting property tax relief.<br />

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the <strong>Jackson</strong> Township Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Education, Ocean County, New Jersey, that the <strong>Jackson</strong> Township Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Education does hereby express its support for all those working to obtain transition<br />

aid for districts who have had an increase in regular and special <strong>education</strong> students<br />

during the last six school years; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the <strong>Jackson</strong> Township Board <strong>of</strong> Education does<br />

hereby implore the Governor and the State <strong>of</strong> New Jersey and the legislature <strong>of</strong> the<br />

State <strong>of</strong> New Jersey and all those who support proper and fair State funding to<br />

work with a bipartisan dedication and conviction to resolve this most serious issue<br />

<strong>of</strong> fair and equal state aid funding to <strong>education</strong> in the State <strong>of</strong> New Jersey; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the <strong>Jackson</strong> Township <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong> fully<br />

supports the efforts <strong>of</strong> the Ninth (9) and Thirtieth (30 th ) Legislative <strong>District</strong>s in the<br />

Delegation’s Resolution effort know as SJR-57 / AJR-129.<br />

2. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education accepts the findings <strong>of</strong> the Monitoring Report conducted by the<br />

Ocean County Superintendent <strong>of</strong> <strong>School</strong>s and staff on January 8, 2007 recommending<br />

certification <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Jackson</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong> for a period <strong>of</strong> seven years and makes such<br />

report available for public review.<br />

3. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves the Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Plan for the 2007-2008<br />

school year as approved by the County Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Office.<br />

4. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education designates Mr. Michael Baldwin as the Integrated Pest<br />

Management Coordinator for the 2006-2007 school year.<br />

5. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves application for New Jersey Reading First Grant funds for<br />

FY 2007 in the amount <strong>of</strong> $599,108.00, starting on July 1, 2007 and ending on June 30,<br />

2008.<br />

6. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves the application to be lead agent in a consortium for the<br />

Governor’s Initiative Grant on Enhancing and Expanding In-district Program Options for<br />

Students with Disabilities in the amount <strong>of</strong> $500,000 to begin June 1, 2007 and end<br />

June 30, 2009.<br />

7. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves the application for No Child Left Behind Act Title III<br />

funds for fiscal year 2007 in the revised amount <strong>of</strong> $19,738.00.<br />

8. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves the application for the OceanFirst Foundation Grant in the<br />

amount <strong>of</strong> $25,000.00 to begin October 1, 2007 and end June, 2008.<br />

13. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves the Transportation Department as host for a “Training the<br />

Attendant Trainer” program sponsored by the <strong>School</strong> Transportation Supervisors <strong>of</strong> New<br />

Jersey on August 13-15, 2007, at no cost to the Board.<br />

14. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves the Special Education Extended <strong>School</strong> Year (ESY)<br />

program for the summer 2007, to be in session July 5, 2007 through August 15, 2007.<br />

15. The Board <strong>of</strong> Education approves pr<strong>of</strong>essional day requests and travel related expenses<br />

from staff members as filed with the appropriate supervisor.<br />
