SÜDPACK goes full steam ahead for
convenience!
At this year’s Interpack exhibition, packaging specialist SÜDPACK is showcasing its position as a
leading manufacturer of innovative packaging systems.
With its three business units, food
and technical packaging, Medica
and Piciotti, the SÜDPACK Group
covers a wide range of state-ofthe-art
packing solutions. Whether
it is steam valves for use in the
microwave or the introduction of a
new resealable film, completely
sterile medical packaging or topquality
rotogravure printing in the
premium foodstuffs and
confectionary sector – all the
highlights take centre stage here.
Once again in 2005, the focus is
on convenience. SÜDPACK offers
its customers two speciallydeveloped
steam valve systems.
One system is designed
specifically to meet the needs of
customers in the catering trade as
well as operators of canteens,
event and hospitality caterers and
manufacturers of HMR dishes
(home meal replacement), with
their high demands in terms of
quality, hygiene, efficiency and low
costs. The second valve system is
especially suitable for domestic
use, since it is very reasonably
priced.

The Chinese have been using it
for centuries for the careful
preparation of their fine, delicately
flavoured dishes: steaming.
Nowadays it is also very popular
here, with more and more
consumers discovering the
benefits of this speedy method of
cooking which preserves all the
vitamins in the food. Now
SÜDPACK makes it possible with
an intelligent packaging system so
that not only homemakers, but
also caterers, canteens and events
and hospitality organisers can
offer carefully prepared steamed
dishes with more nutrients and
more flavour – and save time and
cut costs at the same time!
For microwave use, SÜDPACK
offers two innovative packaging
systems, the first being mainly
suitable for the catering trade.
This valve-based steaming system
uses the patented Dream-Steam
system. When the products are
heated in the microwave in this
packaging, the water content in
the food produces steam pressure.
The resulting cooking process is
controlled by the valve. This
means that fresh, uncooked
produce can be made ready to eat
within a few minutes. The loss of
water-soluble ingredients in the
food is far less than occurs with
boiling, so the true flavour is
intensified. Steaming also
harmonises various cooking times,
for example for vegetables, meat,
fish or poultry.
The second packaging innovation,
Dream Steam
the so-called film-based steaming
system, functions in the same way
as the valve version, but in a
simplified design. This low-cost
option can be used on all FFS
deep-drawing machines and tray
sealers with no further
modification. No license is
required either.
Thanks to these two innovative
SÜDPACK packaging systems,
providers of ready meals and set
menus can offer consumers
products which are greatly
improved in flavour and nutritional
value. Because of the superfast
cooking times, caterers can
organise their costs and work
schedules more efficiently, as well
as offering products which simply
taste better.
