INSTALLATION STEPS<br />
1) Remove spare tire and spare tire carrier assembly to reduce noise. Spare will need to be relocated.<br />
Do not remove any welded or riveted cross members.<br />
2) Fishwire spacers and 1/2" carriage bolts into the (4) existing holes in the frame rails as shown.<br />
3) <strong>Install</strong> driver and passenger side mounting plates and driver and passenger side mounting arms over bolts<br />
installed in step (2) and secure with flange nuts, finger tighten as shown.<br />
4) Lift The <strong>Mule</strong> into position between driver and passenger side mounting plates and the driver and<br />
passenger side mounting arms. Secure with 1/2" carriage bolts and flange nuts, finger tighten as shown.<br />
5) With hitch in position use the mounting plates as a template to mark and center punch the holes in the frame<br />
rails.<br />
6) Drill the frame using a 1/2" drill bit at the center punched locations. (Mounting plates and mule may need to<br />
be removed for drilling.)<br />
7) After both sides of frame are drilled fishwire spacers and 1/2" carriage bolts through frame and mounting<br />
plates and secure with flange nuts, finger tighten.<br />
8) Locate grease fittings on main hitch frame and fill with standard automotive grade grease until grease is visible<br />
at lock pin and rear pivot point.<br />
9) <strong>Install</strong> Flat Bar or Receiver. See separate instruction sheet. Do not proceed with step (11) until Flat Bar<br />
or Receiver is installed.<br />
10) Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 75 lb-ft.<br />
11) Torque all 5/8" fasteners to 150 lb-ft.<br />
12) IMPORTANT: A minimum clearance of 2 1/4" fore and aft, and 1 1/4" above the springs is necessary for safe<br />
operation.<br />
PERIODICALLY CHECK THIS RECEIVER HITCH TO INSURE THAT ALL FASTNERS<br />
ARE TIGHT AND THAT ALL STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS ARE SOUND.<br />
