Sports Reports Fishing Report Here it is, the start of another year; how quickly Christmas and New Year holidays have passed and activities for 2012 have commenced. Our final outing for 2011 was held at Shoalhaven Heads and a great turnout of participants as usual, staying at the Club’s units. It was a closely fought competition and this last outing had Peter Plunkett clinching the championship and awarded his “winners jacket” at the Galaxy night. Our Presentation night was held 26th November; a number of trophies were handed out along with some “funny awards” given. Louise Pettit was awarded a Life Membership to the Fishing Club which was very special and well received. Our Annual General Meeting was held Tuesday 7th December. Previous committee members stood down and a new committee elected; congratulations to those elected, particularly our new President Graham Evans; Vice President Peter Plunkett and Secretary/Treasurer John Shaw. Thank you in advance to all committee members, for the many hours of work ahead. Our first outing for 2011 will be 28th January from Botany Bay waters and the weigh-in (for probably a few to gloat) at 3:00pm at Moore’s Park Reserve, Oatley. Future dates to mark in your calendars are: – 18th & 19th February Shoalhaven Heads – 24th March Port Hacking – 28th April Port Kembla – 26th & 27th May Shoalhaven Heads See you on the water, Lady Nemo. Darts Club Report Another year has started and we all hope to have a happy and healthy year. We ended last year with our Christmas party in December, which was well attended, and fun was had by all. There were a lot of raffle prizes to be won and a few surprise “FUN” awards as well. All the recipients who received them accepted the gifts with great humour as it was intended. Why don’t you come and join us on a Friday night down in the Sports Bar at 7.30pm, where we have “Theme and Fun” nights during the year, “Birthday” surprises and “Lucky Door” draws once a month. You would also be able to join in our “Championship” days and our “Round Robin” night where all the sporting groups compete for a trophy at the end of the year. The Darts Club won it in 2011. If you would like to join our Darts Club, and bring children over the age of 12 with you, they are most welcome. We would only be too happy to have them along and join in our activities. You don’t have to know how to play, we can teach you while you are playing. Please feel free to join us as we will certainly welcome you into our club. On a sadder note I would like to inform you that we lost one of our members in December, Rosanna White, to motor neurone disease. Our thoughts are with Paul and his family at this time. In closing we wish everyone a happy and safe Easter and hope the Easter Bunny is kind to you all. Lynda Lake Snooker Report Well, another snooker year has started after the Christmas and New Year break with our Friday Competition starting on January 13. The last of our Championship winners for 2011 Handicap Doubles are Geoff Wilkinson and Jeff Costa. Runners up are Stan Howard and John Moncaster. Handicap senior’s winner is Dave Strachan. Runner up is Bob McGuire. Congratulations to you all. Further congratulations go to our team in the B.S.A. NSW Snooker League. They were the winners in the first year of this series. We wish you all the best in the defence of the trophy for 2012. Our AGM is set down for February 3, hoping some new committee members will come on board to drive the club along. To be a part of the snooker club, come along to Friday’s social handicap competition, starting at 6pm. As you all know you will not read this fine editorial until the March Issue of the Burst Mag, so to say a final few words before Xmas I want to thank the Golf Committee for their tireless efforts in organising the golf games through the year, they being. Graeme Sheary (President), Steve Hodson (Secretary), Myself as (Captain), Graham Keep (Vice Captain), and Greg Kable, Paul Thorpe and Neil Wilkinson as our Committee men. A special thanks to Alan Barnes, Debbie Harris, Ian Todd and all the Staff at the Club for their support through out the year. What a fantastic club this is and to all the other internal sporting clubs Darts, Fishing, Bowls & Snooker I hope you all had a great Xmas and New Year and are doing it all again now. There will be several games played after Xmas and New Year so the reporting will continue until the close of this which is in January 2012 There will also be a re-election for a new committee after the first game in January. Bowls Report As we enter 2012 lets hope it’s a good one for all of us. The President and Directors night was another huge success and well attended. It was great to see all the sporting club champions receive their trophies, well done to all the winners. We have welcomed four Darties who have joined us this year. Isabelle Bennett, Lynda Lake, Averille Johnston, and Yvonne Rackly, they are playing very well (too well) and, after only three games. It is also good to have Paul white back with us again. Congratulations to Darties winning the Round Robin. Make the best of it as its ours this year. Our presentation night last December seemed to go well with all attending.
