GENERALS SWIMMING<br />
THE CY TWOMBLY POOL<br />
Headquarters for the <strong>Washington</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Lee</strong> aquatics program is the impressive<br />
Cy Twombly Memorial Pool, located in the spacious J. W. Warner Center.<br />
The Twombly Pool, overlooked by a 500-seat gallery, measures 25 yards in<br />
length <strong>and</strong> features six regulation lanes <strong>and</strong> a computerized electronic timing system<br />
with a six-lane scoreboard system.<br />
W&L swimmers enjoy a comfortable locker room just off the pool deck that<br />
includes a television, video analysis equipment <strong>and</strong> a lounge area.<br />
The pool's first competition was the 1972 NCAA Men's College Division Swimming<br />
<strong>and</strong> Diving Championships. The pool also served as the site for the 1982<br />
NCAA Division III Swimming <strong>and</strong> Diving Championships. In the past, the facility has<br />
served as host to the Atlantic States Swimming Championships, as well as the Old<br />
Dominion Athletic Conference Swimming Championships.<br />
