Flash technology for the ultimate in flexibility and convenience. Olympus’ new RC Data Transfer System enables wireless communication between the camera and special external flash units such as the new FL-50R and FL-36R. No separate commander unit is required because all functions are triggered and controlled directly from the E-3’s integrat - ed flash. Depending on what lighting setup you require, up to three separate flash groups can be controlled directly from the camera at one time. Settings and adjustments can be controlled from the Super Control Panel on the LCD. Wireless TTL FL-50R flash unit. The FL-50R electronic flash unit was specially developed for use in digital photography and utilises RC Data Transfer Technology. It has a very powerful GN50 at a focal length of 42mm (equivalent to 85mm on a 35mm camera; ISO 100), and GN28 at a focal length of 12mm (equivalent to 24mm on a 35mm camera; ISO 100). • The reflector can be tilted and swivelled. • The Olympus E-3 enables flash synchronisation at all shutter speeds – 1/8000 th sec. in FP mode. • Flash coverage is automatically adjusted in several steps to corre- spond to the focal length of the lens when zooming. • In addition to manual settings, fast recycle intervals of as little as 1.3 seconds are possible (in combination with an external power source). • The FLBA-1 bounce adapter can be mounted on the flash head to diffuse shadows, while the FLRA-1 reflector adapter softens the effects of bounce lighting.
