Program Staff
The Integrated Preschool classes
are instructed by certified teachers
and all sections have at least one
classroom assistant.

Hours: 2 ¼ Hours Per Day
5 Days Per Week
The school year follows the
Hanover Township Public Schools’
regular school calendar.
School Nurse
A full-time school nurse will be
present daily to address
emergencies, monitoring of medical
conditions and addressing student’s
individual health needs.
Special Education
Children enrolled as general
education students are not eligible
for speech therapy or
transportation. Students whose
performance suggests they could be
at-risk for future difficulties in
school may be referred for review
by the Child Study Team.

Integrated Preschool Program
The Hanover Township
Public Schools’ integrated
preschool program offers 3
and 4 year-old students an
enriched preschool
experience. The program’s
approach combines
engaging lessons and
activities with centerbased,
structured and free
play time. These efforts
are intended to promote
children’s progress toward
achieving key
developmental milestones
and prepare them to meet
the demands of
Kindergarten.

Core Program Goals
Helping children develop ageappropriate
language and
communication skills and
academic, Kindergarten readiness
skills are the central goals of the
program.
Students are exposed daily to a
language-rich environment and
lessons and activities are
developed to promote the use and
generalization of these skills.
Core social values are another
key element of the preschool
program.

aspects of the school day:

Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum serves
as the basis for instruction. This
program is approved by the New
Jersey Department of Education
and is aligned with the New
Jersey Preschool Teaching and
Learning Standards. The
Creative Curriculum focuses on
the following academic and
developmental areas:
Literacy
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
The Arts
Technology
Process Skills
To promote skill mastery,
classroom instruction is
partnered with hands-on
activities; music; free and
structured play; use of an ageappropriate,
outdoor playground;
use of computers; and
participation in school
assemblies.
Program Eligibility
To be considered for the
Integrated Preschool, children
must be:
Residents of Hanover
Township
Age 3 by October 1, 2011 or
Age 4 by October 1, 2011
o Children who are
eligible for
Kindergarten or are
5 years old on
October 1, 2011 will
not be accepted.
Fully Toilet Trained
A lottery system will be
used to determine who is
eligible to attend.
o Selected students
may attend for a
maximum of 2 years
(i.e., while 3 and 4
years old)
o An alternate waiting
list will be developed
through the lottery
system, based on the
demand for
enrollment.
