Patricia MacAlister - Endowment Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care was honored to receive an endowment gift from the Blowitz-Ridgeway Foundation in the name of our mutual volunteer Pat MacAlister. Ms. MacAlister was a patient care volunteer at Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care from 2004 until her death in March 2011, at the age of 81. President’s Council Each year, individuals and corporations joining the President’s Council or choosing to renew their commitment help form a core of philanthropic support for Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care Programs. Through personal philanthropy or by inviting others to invest in the mission of Rainbow Hospice, these dedicated $2,500 or more with the understanding that mission effectiveness relies on the many contributions of the community. In addition to her volunteer work at Rainbow, Ms. MacAlister also served as a trustee on the board of the Blowitz-Ridgeway Foundation, which was created in 1984 to focus on supporting nonprofits which provide medical and psychological services to economically disadvantaged children and adolescents. Over the years, with Ms. MacAlister’s support, Rainbow applied for and received several grants to expand services including music therapy. Rainbow Hospice Endowment Campaign Our Seeing Beyond the Rain Endowment Campaign has reached the amazing milestone of $1,000,000. The final goal is to create an endowment fund of $5 million by 2014 through current and deferred gifts. This support will fortify all of our philanthropically supported programs such as the Good Mourning Program for bereaved children and families, our very special Music and Massage Therapy programs, and education through our LIFE Institute. The strength of a nonprofit organization like Rainbow Hospice is often measured by the funds it holds in reserve to support its operations and provide stability in times of future economic uncertainty. Our campaign, Seeing Beyond the Rain, is helping to build the resources that will maintain and grow Rainbow Hospice programs and facilities far into the future. Endowment gifts can be made to Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care through a variety of giving plans, including pledges of cash or stocks, bequests, and many planned gift instruments. Donors who make a gift or pledge of $25,000 or more can elect to have a Fund in the name of their choosing. Named Funds are maintained and updated through Rainbow Hospice and can be used to gather and grow support throughout the campaign.
