array of care <strong>and</strong> joy for our patients. Even without a cure there can be healing. Spiritual <strong>Care</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

Healing Arts at <strong>Rainbow</strong> <strong>Hospice</strong> brings life, art, <strong>and</strong> music to those who need it most.<br />

Healing<br />

<strong>Rainbow</strong> <strong>Hospice</strong> is in its tenth year<br />

of providing music therapy for our<br />

patients. We know that music provides<br />

spiritual <strong>and</strong> physical benefits, <strong>and</strong> is<br />

an important part of our Spiritual <strong>Care</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> Healing Arts services.<br />

The <strong>Rainbow</strong> Threshold Singers<br />

is a group of women who sing<br />

at the bedside in groups of 2’s<br />

& 3’s. They sang for Imelda<br />

Mizones, one of the patients<br />

featured in the WBEZ radio<br />

story. Imelda passed away in<br />

August of <strong>2012</strong>.<br />

<strong>Rainbow</strong> <strong>Hospice</strong> provides an<br />

extensive staff of Healing Arts<br />

support including 13 chaplains,<br />

3 music therapists, 2 massage<br />

therapists, 27 Threshold Choir<br />

members <strong>and</strong> numerous interns.<br />

In addition to the day-to-day<br />

work with patients, Spiritual<br />

<strong>Care</strong> & Healing Arts at <strong>Rainbow</strong><br />

<strong>Hospice</strong> also holds four quarterly<br />

interfaith memorial services<br />

at different sites throughout<br />

Chicagol<strong>and</strong>.<br />

This summer, our <strong>Rainbow</strong><br />

<strong>Hospice</strong> Threshold Singers<br />

were interview by WBEZ 91.5’s<br />

Richard Steele to be featured on<br />

Chicago Public Radio for the<br />

work they do singing to <strong>and</strong> with<br />

terminally ill patients.<br />
