Early Childhood Development Program<br />

Why choose our program for your child?<br />

Prospective parents often ask, “What makes for a great pre-school?” Here at the JCC,<br />

we offer your child consistent opportunities for exploration, learning <strong>and</strong> discovery,<br />

starting from infancy all the way through to pre-k. We underst<strong>and</strong> the importance of<br />

establishing a rapport between caregiver <strong>and</strong> parents. Therefore, we encourage parent<br />

FALL <strong>2015</strong> REGISTRATION<br />

Our Early Childhood Development Program<br />

(ECDP) is currently accepting registrations for<br />

the <strong>2015</strong>-2016 school year. Enrollment has<br />

been moving very quickly <strong>and</strong> space is limited.<br />

Some classrooms are already full, <strong>and</strong> we have<br />

started wait lists. The JCC of Syracuse <strong>2015</strong>–<br />

2016 school year scholarship application<br />

deadline is July 15, <strong>2015</strong>. Scholarships are<br />

based on income. For more information about<br />

our program, to discuss your needs <strong>and</strong> to<br />

schedule a tour, please contact Jo David, early<br />

TEACHER APPRECIATION DINNER<br />

Many thanks to everyone who donated toward<br />

purchasing Target gift cards which were<br />

presented to all teaching staff during the<br />

Teacher Appreciation Dinner on May 5. We<br />

appreciate your generosity in helping us make<br />

this a successful event!<br />

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES<br />

Our parent teacher conferences, being held<br />

May 11–22, offer a great opportunity to reflect<br />

on <strong>and</strong> share observations. We hope that this<br />

second set of meetings provide a fascinating<br />

<strong>and</strong> fresh look at your child’s growth <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>Summer</strong> Camp<br />

<strong>Summer</strong> is a time for fun in<br />

the sun <strong>and</strong> swimming!<br />

Camp sneak preview<br />

ECDP pre-schoolers will<br />

soon be able to experience the fun <strong>and</strong><br />

excitement of summer camp during the<br />

school year! Our sneak preview to camp<br />

week will be held May 26–29 during regular<br />

morning pre-school hours. Children will get<br />

to enjoy a variety of summer camp related<br />

arts <strong>and</strong> crafts projects, games, outdoor<br />

activities, swimming <strong>and</strong> special treats.<br />

ANNUAL BASKET RAFFLE<br />

We’re gearing up for one of our biggest <strong>and</strong><br />

most fun fundraising events of the year! Each<br />

classroom will be creating a special themed<br />

basket to be raffled off. We ask that each family<br />

please bring in an item or two by Friday, May 29<br />

to help fill their basket. The completed baskets<br />

will be on display near the front office. Raffle<br />

tickets will be available from Monday, June 1<br />

through Monday, June 15. Your help in selling<br />

tickets to friends, family <strong>and</strong> coworkers is much<br />

appreciated! Tickets cost 1 for $1, 6 for $5,<br />

13 for $10 or 30 for $20. The winners will be<br />

drawn on Tuesday, June 16. You do not need to<br />

be present to win.<br />

END-OF-YEAR CELEBRATIONS<br />

The Early Childhood Development Program will<br />

celebrate the end of 2014-<strong>2015</strong> school year with<br />

the children putting on special performances.<br />

Registration<br />

Our ECDP <strong>Summer</strong> Camp is a weekly<br />

program (monthly for infants) which runs<br />

from June 29 through August 21. We offer a<br />

variety of flexible weekly enrollment options<br />

such as Monday–Friday; Monday, Wednesday<br />

<strong>and</strong> Friday; <strong>and</strong> Tuesday <strong>and</strong> Thursday. The<br />

following four time options are also available:<br />

9 a.m. – 1 p.m., 7 a.m. – 1 p.m., 9 a.m. –<br />

3:45 p.m. <strong>and</strong> 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.<br />

Parents of children in classrooms 4 <strong>and</strong> 5 will<br />

be invited to join us on June 5 for “Songs <strong>and</strong><br />

Sundaes.” During this very special circle time,<br />

parents can join their children in singing some<br />

of the favorite songs learned throughout this<br />

year, <strong>and</strong> enjoy an ice cream treat together. On<br />

Thursday, June 10 at 9:30 a.m., the children<br />

in classrooms 6, 7 <strong>and</strong> 8 will participate in<br />

their “Moving Up Morning” celebration as they<br />

perform some special songs. The children in<br />

rooms A, B <strong>and</strong> 2 will take center stage on the<br />

morning of June 15, performing for family <strong>and</strong><br />

friends during the Annual Pre-K Graduation<br />

Ceremony. Following the performances, the<br />

graduates will walk across the stage <strong>and</strong><br />

receive their pre-k diplomas. Immediately<br />

afterward, families are invited to celebrate this<br />

special day with a pre-k picnic. Invitations will<br />

be sent in June.<br />
