Our 2014 programme sees the return of our biennial
Western Australia tour with our resident Aussie guide
Peter Taylor, who has lived in that neck of the woods
for more than a decade now. It’s a trip that perfectly
complements our Classic Australia tour, which runs
annually in November and focuses on the eastern side
of this great island continent. Our last winter tour to
Thailand was a massive success, producing far more
species than even we’d dared hope - including great
looks at Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Blue Pitta, Green
Peafowl and Siamese Fireback among target species!
But the relatively brief time spent around Chiang Mai
in the north left everyone wanting more - so we have
added 3 extra days to the tour for our return in 2014!
Our twice-yearly tours to Sri Lanka in search of the
island’s 30+ species of endemic birds and a range of
Southern Indian specialities have been a main stay of
our Asia programme for many years, and we are again
offering a choice of three superb departures to India:
Classic Northern India, Goa, and Darjeeling & Assam.
THAILAND
Siamese Firebacks & Spoon-billed Sand

EXTENDED ITINERARY! With an extra 3 days added to our itinerary for 2014,
this superb tour kicks off on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand in search of
Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordmann’s Greenshank and other rare waders. From
here, we head north to the bird-rich tropical forests of Thailand’s three bestknown
National Parks: Khao Yai, Doi Inthanon and Doi Angkhang. A visit to
little known Doi Lang, on the Burmese border, completes a splendid holiday!

SRI LANKA
Jewel of the Indian Ocean

The first of two superb departures seeking Sri Lanka’s 30+ endemic birds -
including Sri Lankan Hanging Parrot, Spot-winged Thrush and Serendib
Scops Owl - and with Malabar Trogon, Indian Pitta, Kashmir Flycatcher and
Pied Thrush among a host of exquisite winter visitors and Southern India
specialities. Add the prospect of seeing Asian Elephant and a good chance
of Leopard among notable mammal highlights. This is also an excellent trip
for anyone wishing to see something of Sri Lanka’s many exotic butterflies,
with their many appealing English names.

Birdwatching in the fabulous eastern Himalaya. Discover a trip that’s got
everything from spellbinding birding amidst bearded hill-forests of oak
and bamboo, to watching rhinos and other large mammals from elephant
back in the tall grasslands by the mighty Brahmaputra River. Plus a chance
to travel on one of the world’s most famous narrow gauge railways, the
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
