Advanced Leadership
Programme
February - June 2013
“I have personally had the opportunity to experience programmes in five
of the most prestigious business schools in Europe. Because of the highly
relevant and topical themes dealt with, the top level faculty and the
brilliant atmosphere of interaction within the work group, the Advanced
Leadership Programme, organised by San Telmo, can be considered at
the same high level as the above mentioned programmes.”
Carlos Jaureguizar, President, Heineken Spain
Seville campus of the San Telmo International Institute
Why attend this programme?
There is truth in the old saying about leadership: It’s
lonely at the top. At the helm of organisations, leaders
can really benefit a great deal from exchanging
thoughts and experiences with peers from a variety
of industries and organisations.
Being a leader today is a challenge, a privilege and a
great responsibility. This programme is designed to
help you build and grow your organisation in a
sustainable way, so that in 10 years from now it will
still exist and ideally be in a much stronger position,
delivering value, creating wealth and increasing
employment. This programme is for busy people who
are keen to embark on an intense learning experience
with other leaders.
Who is this programme for?
This intensive leadership programme has a clear
objective: to help a select number of chief executives,
entrepreneurs and managing directors do better
what they already do well – for the enhancement of
their own professional and personal development and
for the success and growth of their organisations,
especially in challenging and tougher times.
What is special about this programme?
This unique Advanced Leadership Programme opens
up exciting new possibilities of personal growth and
leadership effectiveness. It achieves this by
challenging and inspiring participants to deeper
personal values, self-understanding and new horizons
of positive thinking, greater integrity and standards of
performance. The experience will be transformational
for participants’ own well-being, the good of business
and the betterment of society.
What methodology is used?
The Timoney Leadership Institute employs the casestudy
method, which is an excellent learning tool that
combines real-life situations with proven principles
and concepts. This approach, used in Harvard, MIT
and other top executive education institutions,
enables participants to review real situations in
organisations and to interact with each other on the
key issues facing leaders in the current challenging
business environment. In many of the cases examined,
a senior executive from the company will personally
join the participants to discuss the content and to
directly answer questions.
This programme is designed to have a deep
transformational impact on the professional and
personal lives of senior leaders.... such as you.

The February, March, April and June modules of the
Advanced Leadership Programme will take place in
Carton House Hotel, about 30 minutes’ drive from
Dublin city centre and just off the N4 road to Galway.
This historic and peaceful venue, with its 1100 acres
of private parkland, provides the perfect setting for
this programme.
The house is one of Ireland’s most historic, and Queen
Victoria knew it well. After the first Duke of Leinster
chose it for his country residence in 1739, it remained
in the FitzGerald family until the mid 20th century.
You can admire, feel inspired, and work in the
attractive setting of the Morrison Room, not to
mention the exquisite and contemporary cuisine in
the Linden Tree restaurant. And this in one of Ireland’s
most attractive settings - a world away, yet very
close to Dublin city and only 30 minutes’ drive
from Dublin Airport.
Fees
The fee for the February – June programme is
€10,500. This fee includes tuition, all learning
materials, all meals and hotel accommodation costs in
Carton House Hotel and in Seville. It does not include
flights or travel expenses incurred in travelling to
Seville. A key component of the fee is to cover the
costs of bringing world-class faculty to Ireland. The
Timoney Leadership Institute and the San Telmo
International Institute are not-for-profit organisations,
so participants can be assured they are getting
maximum value-for-money.
All fees should be made payable to Timoney
The senior business leaders from throughout Ireland,
Institute, believe that the development and well-being
of people should be the cornerstone of all
management practice, and a key priority in leading
the way to growth and prosperity. The ethical and
moral values which the Institute draws upon are
based on the Christian tradition, a perspective that
has been at the root of social and human progress in
Europe and throughout the world. These values
emphasise the intrinsic rights and dignity of every
person, and constitute the keystone of successful,
sustainable organisations and of society.
achiever and an academic of international repute at
University College Dublin. He embodied and radiated
energy, drive and courage. He was inspirational, and
founded the Timoney Technology Group. An article
about him in The Irish Times in 1985 was titled “The
renaissance man of Irish engineering”. His technology
transfer achievements were rewarded by the
Tanzanian government with the naming of the
Timoney Memorial Library in his honour.
San Telmo International Institute
The main objective of San Telmo is to help business
owners, directors and top executives develop their
leadership and management skills. It achieves this
through its own faculty and through visiting
professors from leading business schools around the
world. In addition to teaching, San Telmo’s faculty
either run their own business or play an advisory role
in a company, so that they have hands-on knowledge
of current challenges. Over 7,000 alumni have
benefited from San Telmo’s programmes since it was
founded in 1982, and they participate in regular
refresher modules. A sign of the esteem in which San
Telmo is held in Andalusia is the fact that the
municipal authorities in both Seville and Málaga
provided them with historic buildings in both cities for
their teaching facilities. And a sign of San Telmo’s
international success is how it is now running
programmes in Italy, Mexico and Morocco.
San Telmo has a staff of over 100 - faculty, executives
and administration. Its expertise and guidance for this
