REAL ESTATE LICENSURE COURSES
150-Hour Real Estate Brokers Program
Career opportunities for licensed real estate
brokers range from owning and operating a
real estate office or managing the branch office
of a real estate company to overseeing real
estate operations for a corporation or working
for a developer. To be eligible to apply for the
New Jersey real estate broker examination,
an individual must have worked as a licensed
real estate salesperson for at least the past
three years and must complete 150 hours
of pre-licensing education. The educational
requirement is met by completing three courses:
the 90-hour “General Core” course, which
must be completed first, and two 30-hour
courses: “Ethics and Agency” and “Office
Management.” Those who successfully complete
all three courses may submit an application for
the real estate broker examination to the New
Jersey Real Estate Commission. Examination
eligibility is determined by the Commission.
NCD912/3326-90-Hour General Core
This course covers New Jersey licensing law,
rules and regulations of the New Jersey Real
Estate Commission, estates in land, ownership
and co-ownership relationships, dower and
courtesy rights, governmental restrictions,
liens and encumbrances, contracts, mortgages
and financing, environmental regulations and
issues, appraisals, investment and business
opportunities, discrimination laws, deeds
and alienation of title, agency duties, and
responsibilities to the consumer.

September 4 through October 24

Principles and Practices of New Jersey Real
Estate (available at NJCU’s bookstore)

NCD913/3327-30-Hour Ethics and Agency
This course covers the choices an individual has
for representation as either a buyer or a seller
and the duties and obligations of each role,
fiduciary relationships, liabilities and penalties
pertaining to disclosure, and the obligation of
agents and sub-agents.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays,
October 25 through November 13

NCD914/3328-30-Hour Office Management
This course covers the responsibilities involved
in managing the operations of a real estate
office, including hiring and firing agents, setting
goals and productivity standards, recruiting
and training, budgeting, accounting, escrow
accounts, records, employment agreements, fair
housing issues, discrimination, and office setup,
policies, and procedures.
