in his work “The History of the Maronites” cites 49 books by Gab<br />

r i e l a s w e l l a s 5 0 0 p o e m s . H i s m o s t f a m o u s w o r k s a r e “ t h e B l e s s e d<br />

M a r o n i t e ” a n d t h e “ N o m o - c a n o n s ” . I n a d d i t i o n h e t r a n s l a t e d i n t o A r a b i c<br />

eight pontifical letters sent to the Maronites. The translation is found<br />

in the Vatican Library and the reference is cod. Vat. Arab. 640, fol.<br />

26-37. In 1507 he was consecrated bishop of the Maronite Diocese of<br />

Cyprus, with his See in Nicosia. There he stayed until he died in 1516.
