Let’s begin with the weather. San Diego in May is perfect. It was sunny and warm and if anything, almost too nice to be inside. The choice of Paradise Point Resort & Spa for the convention location was also practically perfect. Unlike many convention venues the parking was plentiful and free. The facilities were clean and well appointed. The staff was helpful, cheerful and efficient. The view outside of the harbor, with people sailing on the clear blue water, was idyllic, except, of course, that everyone wanted to leave the convention and go outside and play. The selection of free continuing education seminars for CCA members was expansive. The schedule included two full days of education, from early morning to 7:30 p.m. and a half day on Sunday. The diversity of the offerings ranged from Treating Sports Injuries, to The Successful Cash-Based Practice, to Adrenal Health – Solutions To Coping With Stress. There were thirty-five different classes offered over the two and a half days—literally something of interest for everyone. Well done presenters and panel participants. What would a convention be without food and fun? Those who attended the exposition reception Saturday afternoon hosted by Rapid Release Technology were in for a huge treat. This was not chips & dip. This was real food, served by a chef and given out in generous portions. Well done, Rapid Release! Quite impressive. Of course, there was the ever popular and ever present popcorn, and other treats throughout the day. Thank you event sponsors. The Chiro-Cash drawing was the biggest ever held. Prizes this year included a two-night stay at the Paradise Point Resort, an iPod, spa gift certificates, bottles of wine, and DVDs. The grand prize drawing Saturday afternoon drew a record crowd estimated by some to exceed two hundred people. Exhibitors at the convention were located in a main hall, in the hallways, and in two side rooms—that’s how many companies wanted to attend and present their products and services. We’ve listed all of the exhibitors with working hyperlinks to their web sites so that you can easily get more information. We encourage you to support the people and companies who support the CCA. We set a new high for attendance at this convention, and nobody went home disappointed. From all the smiles and positive comments made, this convention was one of the best ever offered. Winer, DC CCA Immediate Past President The CCA Past Presidents meeting held in conjunction with our annual CCA/Parker Convention in San Diego on Saturday, May 5, 2012 was well attended by many of the past presidents from as far back as 1983: 1983 1984 R. Winer, DC 2011-2012 Vernon Englund, DC One doctor commented that he hadn’t seen this many past presidents gathered for this event in many years. There was lively discussion and debate on many issues concerning the chiropractic profession in California. As usual membership is always a concern and many opinions were given as to why membership has decreased in the last several years and several remedies were discussed. Also discussed were current and future legislative issues that could better position the chiropractic profession in California. There was a consensus opinion that the Past Presidents Council should have an official position on the CCA board of directors. A different past president could attend each of the three CCA board of directors meetings every year allowing better participation from past presidents on the day to day activities of the board.
