Mequon-Thiensville School District has no role in
funding, supervising or monitoring these services. Please view
this as a listing, not an endorsement, of the programs.
The booklet was developed by the Early Developmental
Awareness Project (EDAP) of the Mequon-Thiensville School
District.
The Early Development Awareness Project provides:
Developmental information and support to families of
children under school age
Communication between agencies serving young children
and their families
Developmental screening and resources for identifying
children who might benefit from a special education
evaluation

Philosophy Statement:
Building Blocks Christian Learning Center provides children with a
high quality Christian education as it encourages, supports, and
nurtures families through the Word of God.
The goal of the Preschool and After School Care is to create a
friendly and relaxed atmosphere where the children can begin their
transition from home to school. The program uses numerous
materials for manipulative and imaginative play. It is necessary that
a wide variety of activities be offered to allow for the differences
in children. Ideally, all children enrolled achieve satisfaction,
recognition and growth.

Philosophy Statement:
The purpose of our Christian 3K and 4K programs are to equip
children to appreciate and enjoy the earthly blessings of God, and
to prepare them for the blessings of eternal life with their Savior.
It is our goal to give to our Lord’s little lambs their first school
experience and to begin the total development of a well-rounded,
well-adjusted Christian personality. The spiritual, mental, social,
emotional and physical aspects of education will be treated in a
relaxed atmosphere, with emphasis on the enjoyment and pleasure
of learning. Children will learn of God’s love, learn independence in
work and play, experience group play, develop muscle coordination,
work on math and reading readiness and grow in Christian love and
respect.
Parent Involvement Opportunities:
Daily communication is maintained with the parents. Monthly
newsletters, quarterly progress reports and parent teacher
conferences keep parents up to date with school happenings.

Philosophy Statement:
Children’s Edu-Care is a child care center located at 10055 N.
Wauwatosa Road, Mequon, in the Vessels of Honour building. It
provides full and partial-day programs for children between the
ages of 6 weeks and 12 years. The center offers a daily,
individualized preschool or kindergarten program for each child
from 2-1/2 through 6 years of age. Throughout the day the boys
and girls participate in a wide range
of activities that develop their
physical, social and academic skills
including Spanish, phonics and math.
There are special summer programs
that incorporate numerous field
trips with opportunities for
involvement in the community. All
staff are certified and have college
credited early childhood training.
The center is state licensed. Nutritious meals and snacks are
included at no extra charge. Baby food and iron-fortified formula
are provided for infants.

Philosophy Statement:
The preschool age is a vital time for parents and their child. It is a

Philosophy Statement:
Pride and Joy Preschool is located in a perfect setting at Logemann
Community Center. This private preschool rents the Family
Playcenter for its morning classes. Throughout the rest of the day,
the Logemann Playcenter is open to the public welcoming any child
accompanied by an adult to enjoy this stimulating and enriching
environment for a nominal fee.
Although state licensing allows for increased enrollment in such a
spacious classroom, Pride & Joy has stayed committed to capping
enrollment at 10 children per class. This personal small group
experience in a structured preschool environment proves less
overwhelming and more interactive and nurturing for each child.
The emphasis of the program revolves around the importance of
learning through play with an emphasis on sensory opportunities.
Large and small motor skills plus cognitive, social, and emotional
growth are strengthened through developmentally appropriate
practices as mandated by Wisconsin Model Early Learning
Standards. The joyful atmosphere at Pride & Joy Preschool
encourages curiosity, problem solving, independence, and tolerance
as each young child begins to delve outside the ―world about me‖
attitude.
Parent Involvement Opportunities:
Parents are encouraged to ―hang out ―after school while
their children enjoy the ―running room.‖ This encourages
parents to develop friendships among themselves while also
allowing opportunities for daily individual parent/teacher
feedback immediately following class. Conferences are
scheduled as needed.

Sonlight Center believes that parents are the most important
influence in a child’s life. We strive to create open communication
and respectful relationships with parents through the following
opportunities: open visitation, monthly newsletters, parent-teacher
conferences, and parent networking opportunities.
