Interview with...
The show is growing every year. It’s a long
shot from the first show in Geneva!
The increase has been phenomenal... even
we were surprised with the growth we’ve
experienced... we’re going to be sold out.
Back in Geneva, it was about one-sixth the
size of what we are now. The first show had
3,500 attendees, and last year we had
almost 17,000. We anticipate for this year
between 19 and 20-thousand.
This growth has shown those companies
who weren’t there that the market comes
here... the system integrators, the
distributors, the resellers... they’re all
coming to see what’s there. Companies are
realising that if they want to meet these
people they have to participate. In addition
to that, we have also been pushed by our
exhibitors to look at some vertical markets

and actually have some specifiers come in
as well... people like architects and interior
designers covering the residential and
commercial areas. You’ll see facilities
managers and IT people. In the field of
digital signage, we
have focussed on
bringing in
advertising
agencies that use
digital signage in
shopping centres
and venues so they
can get a better
understanding of the facilities available to
them. We run our own digital signage
system at the show, because we feel that
ISE is a classic example of an event that
should have digital signage and can
actually benefit from it... so we are putting

it in ourselves to show just what can be
done. Year on year we improve upon this.
This year you’ll not just see digital signage,
but also IPTV being incorporated within that
as well.
What’s going to be different at ISE this
year?
We’ll be seeing a substantial number of
new companies, like Cisco, who are very
much pushing what they’re doing in digital
signage as well as in conferencing
facilities. You’ll be seeing Harmon Pro here
for the first time in a big way and we have
Digital Projection for the first time. There will
be a lot of digital signage this year, and we
have added onto the plan a “digital
signage track”, so visitors can easily identify
the companies who are offering solutions in
digital signage. There is also now a search
database for attendees. Those people who
have been to InfoComm will know
InfoComm IQ –- a searchable database
that exists all year round for the AV industry
in the USA. We’re launching that for Europe
now with ISE IQ... it’s the same engine. You
can actually plan
your visit beforehand
by using this
database. In
addition, there is a
meeting tool in there
where you can just
press the button and
it will automatically
send a meeting request to someone in that
company who will get back to you and
arrange a meeting beforehand. So there
are more tools with which to make the
attendees’ experience of ISE much more
efficient.
