choice thoughts
Over the last few months
I have been in a financial business planning
group, which met weekly for 12
weeks to create and complete a business
plan with action items for our respective
companies. Of course mine was choice.
My participation in this group gave me
the opportunity to review and revise all
of the information I have accumulated,
learned and used over the years. One of
the biggest learnings came in conjunction
with Marcy Nelson-Garrison’s article
from our last issue, “The Coach’s
Toolbox” (March 2010, page 41).
The article outlined the three stages of
business growth, which really resonated
with me. I translated those who are at
each of the stages into “Initiators”
(someone just starting with coach training
and perhaps a business), “Imitators”
(those who emulate the leaders ahead of
them in business and methodology) and
“Independents” (those who are established
successful coaches and contributing
thought leaders).
There is a clear parallel to the stages of
business represented by our choice readership.
Our content in the magazine, our
Expert Series and our tele-calls swing
between serving these distinct groups.
So as we move forward with choice
Magazine and choice Village, we now have
a clear plan of engagement for all three
groups of coaches – the Initiators, the
Imitators and the Independents – as well
as one additional group, which I call the
“Interested” – those currently on the
outside looking in who have yet to dip
their toes into the water of this amazing
and transformational profession.
As we continue to design and deliver
information and services to our readers,
we will continue to serve you in ways
tobuild your business, such as the
choiceVillage (currently in production
with Phase I) while providing the
opportunity to contribute with
articles, learning and community.
My heartfelt thanks to Marcy for her
continued support of choice through her
“coaching tools” columns, through her
company www.coachingtoys.com, and
now through her insightful article which
has given me a framework for continuing
to serve our profession.
