STUTTGART · GERMANY WORKING GROUP DGNB INDUSTRIAL DISTRICTS Industrial sites are an important part of the political debate about sustainability in municipalities. The focus of the scheme is the space between the buildings, infrastructure, and the location of the area. The goal of the upcoming DGNB system for industrial sites is to bring the strategies of sustainable neighborhood planning into the area of industrial developments. The DGNB and Happold Consulting see a significant scope for optimization at the development of sustainable industrial areas. With the DGNB system for industrial sites will also take environmental, economic and social aspects into account. Approaches to reduce emissions and costs over the entire life cycle as well as approaches to improve the quality of the open space, childcare and shopping opportunities for the employees are relevant topics for the system. The formation of synergies and closed circuits between the industry and the surrounding neighborhoods is another important field of sustainable neighborhood planning.
